Japanese watchmaker KUOE has announced the Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs, featuring Citizen Miyota's new Calibre 9085 automatic movement. The Kyoto-assembled watch offers approximately 80 hours of power reserve, two case sizes and three dial colours, with an initial allocation of 1,000 watches.

Kyoto-based watchmaker KUOE has announced the Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs, introducing Citizen Miyota's new Calibre 9085 automatic movement to its vintage-inspired collection. The watch offers approximately 80 hours of power reserve, with pre-orders opening on October 30, 2026.

According to KUOE, it is the only Japanese watch brand granted early access to the new movement, which is initially being supplied to a limited number of manufacturers worldwide. The company has announced an initial allocation of 1,000 watches through its official online store.

A new Miyota movement with almost twice the power reserve

The most significant change lies inside the case. The Calibre 9085 offers approximately 80 hours of power reserve, compared with around 42 hours for Miyota's established Calibre 9015.

The extra running time gives owners greater flexibility when rotating between watches, reducing the likelihood of having to reset the time after a few days without use. Actual running time will depend on how fully the movement is wound.

KUOE has paired the new movement with applied Roman numeral hour markers, plume-shaped hands and a heat-blued steel seconds hand. The dial has a two-layer construction, while the movement features decorative Geneva stripes and heat-blued screws. The Timex Waterbury Heritage Automatic also uses a Miyota movement, although its Calibre 8205 offers a shorter power reserve of up to 42 hours.

Two case sizes and three dial colours

The Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs is available in 35 mm and 39 mm versions, with ivory, blue or green dials. All six configurations are paired with Italian-made leather straps.

The design retains the collection's traditional appearance, but the new Roman numeral dial introduces a different look from earlier Royal Smith models.

KUOE says its watches are individually assembled by its watchmakers in Kyoto. The new model also features an exhibition case back, allowing the movement's finishing to remain visible.

Pricing and availability

KUOE has scheduled online-exclusive pre-orders for October 30, 2026, at 11 am Japan Standard Time. The first allocation comprises 1,000 watches, with shipping expected to begin in February 2027.

Japanese pricing starts at ¥131,100 for the blue and green versions, rising to ¥131,400 for the ivory model. International pricing and applicable taxes should be checked against KUOE's regional storefront before ordering.

The 1,000-watch figure refers to the initial allocation rather than a confirmed lifetime production limit. KUOE has not established that only 1,000 examples will ever be made.
