Sledding Game was released on April 30, and in only a few days, the game has sold 100,000 copies on Steam. The game is also currently available with a 38% discount, which has knocked its price down to $4.95.

Hundreds of new games arrive on Steam every month. Some manage to grab attention almost instantly, while many others struggle to get noticed at all. A new indie title called Sledding Game seems to belong to the first category, as it has already reached a major milestone only a few days after launching into early access.

The game is developed and published by The Sledding Company, which was created by solo developer Max. Despite being the developer’s very first Steam game, it has already become a huge success.

Sledding Game sells 100k copies in just five days

In a recent updated posted on Steam, Max revealed that Sledding Game sold more than 100,000 copies in just five days. The developer said reaching that number so quickly felt unreal and explained that the support from players now allows him to continue making games full-time. He also thanked the community for helping the game grow so quickly and mentioned that more updates, bug fixes, and content are still planned since the game is currently in early access.

What makes the success even more impressive is that the game did not have a major publisher or a huge marketing campaign behind it. Instead, most of the attention seems to have come from players sharing clips online and recommending it to friends.

As for what the game offers, Sledding Game is a multiplayer online co-op experience focused on casual fun, snow sports, and hanging out with friends. The game includes proximity voice chat, letting players talk while sledding down hills, crashing into each other, or simply relaxing around the map. Players can compete to reach the bottom of hills first, perform tricks for points, or even build ramps and launch themselves off them. Despite its simple concept, the game has quickly exploded in popularity.

Players also seem to be loving the game so far. On Steam, it currently has more than 1,600 user reviews, and 97% of them are positive. That has earned the game an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on the platform, which is one of the highest ratings a game can receive on Steam. For anyone interested in trying it out, the game is currently available at a 38% discount, which has knocked its price down from $7.99 to $4.95.
