IO Interactive's 007 First Light preps for a March 2026 release date

IO Interactive has officially announced that 007 First Light, a new take on James Bond, will launch on March 27, 2026, across multiple platforms, including PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and even the Nintendo Switch 2.

This reveal was announced at the end of the game’s PlayStation State of Play deep dive, which offered an in-depth look at the 007 First Light’s gameplay, which started off with a commentary-free, unfiltered playthrough of an early level. 

The game bears a resemblance to IO Interactive’s approach with the Hitman series, giving players freedom to choose between multiple branching paths to complete objectives via either stealth, going guns blazing, or taking the problem-solving route.

The announcement was preceded by a flurry of leaks earlier that day, in addition to price details for the base game, followed by a premium $300 collectors edition, dubbed the Legacy Edition, which had already fueled rumors about a reveal date.

Pre-orders have already gone live, with all versions offering an upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, which offers exclusive in-game items. As for 007 First Light’s Legacy Edition, it features a physical copy of the game, Deluxe Edition add-ons, a golden gun weapon skin, and a detailed golden gun replica complete with a stand, secret compartment, a magnetic steel case, and a certificate of authenticity to match the whole premium 007 vibe.

007 First Light is going to be an original origin story for a young and reckless MI6 recruit James Bond, being developed by IO Interactive in collaboration with Amazon and MGM Studios. The game features Patrick Gibson, who played Dexter in Dexter: Original Sin, as the new young James Bond with a supporting cast of members, including Greenway, Moneypenny, and Miss Roth.

Chief Executive Officer of IO Interactive, Hakan Abrak, stated in a press release:

“With 007 First Light, we’re building a wholly original James Bond experience from the ground up, one that blends the sharp tension of espionage with the bold spectacle the franchise is known for.

The gameplay is rooted in our signature approach to immersive design, combining stealth, action, and creativity in a way that feels uniquely tailored to Bond.”
