Huawei's 'Band 2 Pro' fitness watch with GPS arrives in the Unites States for only US$69
When it comes to wearables, Huawei is better known for traditional smart watches in their ‘Watch’ series, such as the Huawei Watch 2. However, the Huawei Fit brand has been making fitness orientated devices for a few years now. Huawei announced the Band 2 and Band 2 Pro back in July of 2017, and they are now available in the United States via Amazon for US$69.
The Huawei Band 2 Pro is a ‘band’ style fitness wearable that is compatible with Android 4.4 and newer. It can record heart rate, distance, speed, and direction of travel. Additional features which aren’t found on the non-pro version include sleep and breathing trackers, water resistance to around 40-50 meters (130-165 feet), running coach software, and an integrated GPS so users can track their runs and sync the data afterward without having to get their smartphone sweaty during the run.
With Android integration and Bluetooth 4.2, it allows users to view any incoming notifications, phone calls, and alarms. Using body and movement sensors, it can associate periods of activities with running, walking, sitting and so forth, so the software will automatically associate periods of the day with types of activities without the user having to assign these manually. This automatic movement detection means that it also knows if you’ve been stationary for too long and notifies you that it is time to move around.
The battery is 105 mAh, which Huawei says gives up to one week of use due to the lower power requirements of a band-style device. The Huawei Band 2 Pro is now available via Amazon for US$69.
