Huawei Y6 2017
The Huawei Y6 2017 is the sequel to the Huawei Y6, which was released on the market two years ago. Obviously, the new device comes with many improvements over the predecessor. However, since the Huawei Y6 2017 remains an affordable smartphone, its specs aren't impressive at all. On top of that, the Chinese handset maker decided to include Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board, instead of going for a newer version. The Huawei Y6 2017 sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, along with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of expandable storage. A further 128 GB of storage is available via a microSD card. The Huawei Y6 2017 offers more than enough room for many apps and mobile games and all the pictures and videos the user can shoot. The device is fueled by the MediaTek MT6737T 64-bit quad-core processor. Apps run smoothly and generally run smoothly with this hardware specification. The smartphone sports a 5-inch IPS display with HD (720p) resolution. It is an ideal smartphone to purchase if the users use their device to watch YouTube videos, Netflix shows or other video content. A 3,000 mAh battery also keeps the smartphone running for longer especially with such basic specs. Huawei also provides enough options to limit the power consumption of apps and other processes. On the back side, there's a 13-MP photo snapper, while on the front, Huawei added a secondary 5-MP camera for selfies and video calls. It features cameras that let users take fantastic photos at a resolution of 4,160 x 3,120 pixels and record videos at a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. Aside from the rather large battery and the decent camera, another selling point of the Huawei Y6 2017 could be the fact that it features dual-SIM support. The Huawei Y6 2017 does not come with a fingerprint scanner, and all of its physical buttons are placed on the right. The company’s branding can be found on both the front and back side of this phone, and the device ships with a single camera on the back, along with a dual-LED flash. The smartphone measures 143.8 x 72.0 x 8.5 mm and weighs 150.0 grams. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Huawei Y6 2017. And on top of it, a user will be able to find Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 4.1 skin. There’s plenty of connectivity options including WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, and 3G, plus a Proximity sensor, an accelerometer, and an ambient light sensor. The Y6 is available in a choice of Gray, Gold, White. Dual SIM variants are also offered. Dual SIM support allows using two active SIM cards on the phone. The Huawei Y6 is a good option for its price, but there might be better choices out there from brands like Lenovo, Xiaomi and Vivo. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

Small. Fancy. Cheap. Huawei's Y6 Pro (2017) is the manufacturer's latest Y-series model. We liked the entry-level smartphone's fancy metal case, its very decent hardware, and its compact size. Unfortunately, we also found one particular issue with lots and lots of room for improvement.

Still affordable. The Huawei Y6 2018 is a device that has a lot of power for the money. The device looks modern and has a decent display, but can it be crowned the king of budget devices?
Source: Yugatech

The Huawei Y6 2018 has its imperfections but for an entry-level smartphone, its specs are competitive. While its performance is average, the good viewing experience, camera quality, and face unlock capabilities are what it makes the device unique than the other smartphones out in the market. This device is one of our recommended smartphones if users are tight on budget.

Aside from that, the Y6 2018 will face competition against ASUS’ lite versions of the ZenFone 4 Selfie and Max—both retailing for under Php 8,000. On the local side, there’s the Cloudfone Next Infinity and Cherry Mobile Flare S6 Deluxe: Both sport an 18:9 display, and are priced at Php 6,999 and Php 5,999 respectively.

Huawei Y6 Pro 2019
The Huawei Y series is the companies answer to the ultra-affordable low-end devices from Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo in the market. For some reason, despite the existence of Honor, Huawei decides to maintain this category under its own roof. The Y6 Pro (2019) is the latest addition to this line up. Despite being in the cheap category, this phone doesn’t look anywhere close to cheap. For a start, it has a plastic body with a thickness of 8 mm; pretty respectable for something in this range. The edges are curved to give it a more premium look, matching the high-end devices in the market. The entire front part of the body is sleek with most of it covered by the screen. It comes with a 6.09-inch IPS LCD screen capable of displaying at a resolution of 720 x 1,560 pixels. The display has a tear-drop like notch to maximize the display area. This gives a screen-to-body ratio of 79.2 %. The phone comes with the latest Android version 9.0 with Huawei’s EMUI 9. In terms of Hardware, it has a Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 quad core processor with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. This is definitely a lot for this price and users can expect a smooth-running phone for all regular usage. Additionally, the built-in memory can be expanded by up to 512 GB via the microSD card slot. The Y6 Pro (2019) has a 13 MP single camera setup for its rear-sided main camera and an 8 MP front facing camera. The rear camera produces some reasonable photos, definitely enough for social media posting. At the bottom, there is a headphones jack. Providing power is a 3,020 mAh battery, which can be charged with the older micro USB port. This is not a complaint though. For this price, these specs are very good, providing a phone that can be used as normal smartphone, like the more expensive ones. The Huawei Y6 Pro (2019) is a good choice for those with a lower budget. However, competition comes from the least expected brand out there. Samsung’s latest Galaxy M10 provides a much better, thinner design and a better camera setup. Its TFT screen is also just as good as the LCD on the Y6 and its bigger too at 6.22 inch. One may also argue that the M10’s Exynos processor is better than the Mediatek in the Y6. Nevertheless, for around the same price, both the Y6 Pro and M10 definitely give some very good hardware. The Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 is aimed at budget-conscious customers who are looking for a good-looking phone with a large display, decent performance, good cameras, long battery life, and Android Pie. At PHP 6,990, it’s reasonably priced and can compete with other smartphones in the same class. So to answer the question at the start of this article, yes, the Y6 Pro 2019 can certainly heat up the entry-level segment some more.

Huawei Y6 2019
The Huawei Y6 (2019) is a budget smartphone which arrived with designs that are quite unique. It comes in four different variants: Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, Modern Black and Amber Brown. Midnight Black is a dark and classic colour. However, the Sapphire Blue has this new material that hides reflective particles as small as 15 microns to diffract light and produce a bright colourful effect. The dark matte colour of Modern Black features a soft, smooth faux-leather finish. Users will appreciate the craftsmanship and detail of this chic material. As for the Amber Brown, it has a faux-leather design and a type of material that is both anti-fingerprint and fashionable. Amber Brown is a distinct style that will catch all the attention. The Huawei Y6 (2019) measures 8 mm in thickness and weighs 150 g. As for the display, the Huawei Y6 (2019) has a 6.09" Dewdrop HD+ display. This wide screen with a 87% screen-to-body ratio provides a great display for videos, photos and favourite books. The Huawei Y6 (2019) also blocks out harmful blue light and is TÜV Rheinland certified. The 8 MP front facing camera was paired up with an advanced Selfie Toning Flash 2.0, a front flash toning light assisted by screen light that enables users to capture a true, natural and accurate portrait even in low-light conditions. Users can also capture greatness with the 13MP rear camera. The wide f/1.8 aperture lens lets in 50% more light to enhance the quality and clarity of low-light shots.
The 12nm chipset, 2GB RAM and large 32GB ROM expandable memory of the Huawei Y6 (2019) can store all content and has the ability to multitask smoothly. The Huawei Y6 (2019) leverages a 3020mAh battery with intelligent battery optimization. The software-hardware synergy works together to keep the phone going all day long. As for the operating system, the Huawei Y6 (2019) runs on EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie. EMUI 9.0 is a smart, simple and intuitive software upgrade. The full-screen gesture navigation and added system speed enhancements with an intelligent Phone Manager help to deliver an overall smoother experience. The Huawei Y6 (2019) also protects information with face unlocking and a fingerprint scanner. Face Unlock intelligently increases the brightness in low-light conditions to easily see user’s face. Conclusively, the Huawei Y6 (2019) is a budget phone that still delivers good features, such as a good-sized display, decent performance, good cameras and Android Pie. It is suitable to be a teenage phone, elderly phone or a secondary phone on a budget. The Y series has always been the budget model for Huawei, but there are other choices in the same price range from Samsung, Xiaomi, and even Huawei’s own sub-brand, Honor.

On the company's website, Huawei mostly highlights the new Y6's (2019) display, selfie camera, sound quality and camera quality in low light. Huawei also emphasizes performance – we're dealing with an entry-level model here. Is the Huawei Y6 (2019) able to live up to the expectations it has raised?

Huawei’s entry-level Y6s offers an attractive design, a decent display, an adequate audio quality, and a chipset that’s capable of light to moderate tasks. The selfie shooter might be slightly disappointing, but the rear camera makes up for it. Then again, we think that those qualities don’t really make the Y6s stand out amongst its competitors in the entry-level field, especially with its price tag of PHP 6,999. Smartphones such as the Xiaomi Redmi 8 and the Realme 5 have a similar price tag and yet already come with multiple cameras, larger battery capacities, and the like. You might want to consider those options instead if you’re looking for a budget device that’ll be worth your money.

One of the key upgrades on the Y6s is its shift to an octa-core processor with the Helio P35. The 12nm processor aims to deliver better performance than the Y6 Pro 2019’s Helio A22 processor and is at par with the Snapdragon 450 in synthetic benchmarks.

Huawei Y6p
Huawei has released another affordable smartphones, the Huawei Y6P. As far as the design is concerned, there is definitely nothing to hype about, as it is just another typical 2020 budget smartphone design with the multi-coloured back covers being the most enticing thing about these modern low-range phones. However, since the number of possible colour combinations is finite, Huawei and others try to interest users with different patterns of reflections and overflows. In the case of the Huawei Y6P, these are diagonal curves that transform into waves when the angle of reflection changes. It is almost impossible to describe the effect that the design creates without actually seeing it. While the frame with a coating carries the same colour as the smartphone, it is not glossy and looks rather nice with no prints being visible on it. However, the plastic surface on the back definitely tends to attract scratches and fingerprints, which is inevitable. The model comes in three colour variations, namely Emerald Green, Midnight Black and Phantom Purple, for users to choose from depending on their personal preference.
On the front of the phone, there is a drop-shaped notch at the top that houses the selfie camera, with an earpiece speaker situated right above it. There are medium-sized bezels around the screen on the top and sides, but the bezels are two times thicker at the bottom. Apart from that, there is also a tray for two SIM cards and a microSD card on the left of the device, while the power button and volume button are on the right. At the bottom of the phone, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, a main microphone and a microUSB port for user convenience. There is a vertical unit with three cameras with a single flash and a fingerprint scanner at the back of the smartphone. Looking into the camera, there is a 13MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP depth camera. In good lighting, the main camera delivers great photos and, even in low light conditions, the camera tends to capture shots with good details.
In terms of its display, the Huawei Y6P incorporates a 6.3-inch IPS panel with a 1,600 x 720 pixel resolution. Overall, the viewing angles are great, along with the contrast as well. The black tones are definitely deep, as they almost merge with the black bezels. The brightness is quite decent for its price. As for outdoor usage, the display definitely remains readable in most cases. For performance, the phone has been equipped with the MediaTek MT6762R Helio P22 chipset, while the PowerVR GE8320 handles the graphics. The processor provides sufficient performance for undemanding tasks. In terms of battery, the Y6P carries a 5,000mAh battery, which is definitely more than enough for this phone. Overall, it is a great phone for the price, although depending on the need and choice of the users.

The HUAWEI Y6p is a very straightforward device. It may not be the most powerful device out there but it does what it set out to do very well. It’s got a massive battery, a decent set of cameras and it’s an overall good looking device. Coupled with a very low price of RM 559, the HUAWEI Y6p is definitely a phone I’d recommend to use as either a secondary device or an entry device for a kid or elderly person.

Finally, let’s talk about price. As I’ve mentioned earlier, the Huawei Y6p is priced at PHP 5,990, which is a solid deal considering its massive battery, deliverable cameras, wireless reverse charging support, 64GB of internal storage, and 4GB of RAM when usually, phones on this price range typically have 3GB.

That being said, the phone addresses most of the things that budget users need, including a decent camera, long battery life, and a price that won’t make a huge dent in your savings.

70.08%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
