Earlier this year, Huawei began selling the MateStation X globally with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, a last-generation and 45 W APU. Effectively combining the internals of a laptop with the display from the MateView, the MateStation X has few competitors, most notably from the 24-inch iMac. Purportedly, Huawei is working towards releasing an updated MateStation X, but one that omits AMD Ryzen hardware.
Instead, Weibo leaker Uncle Mountain reports that Huawei has settled on the Core i9-12900H, a 45 W processor from Intel's Alder Lake-H series. For reference, the Core i9-12900H has six performance cores and eight efficiency cores built on a 10 nm manufacturing process. Additionally, the leaker reports that the new all-in-one (AIO) will launch with 16 GB of RAM and a choice between 512 GB and 1 TB of storage. Presumably LPDDR5, the RAM should be joined by twin USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports, plus a fingerprint scanner embedded within the bundled keyboard.
Like the current model, the MateStation X 2022 should arrive with a 28.2-inch IPS panel operating at a 3,840 x 2,560-pixel resolution in a 3:2 aspect ratio. Similarly, the display will peak at 60 Hz, 500 nits and with 98% DCI-P3 colour space coverage. Unfortunately, a global launch remains unknown at this stage, although there is a good chance that Huawei may leave its global fans waiting until early 2023, as was the case this year with the current MateStation X.
