Honor has unveiled the X80i smartphone in China and it is powered by the Dimensity 6500, a chipset MediaTek hasn't officially announced. The new phone also boasts an improved design and features an upgraded display and battery.

Alongside the Play 80 Pro, Honor also has announced a new model in its X-series. The new Honor X80i arrives as a successor to the Honor X70i released in April 2025, bringing with it more cameras, a bigger battery, and a brand new chipset.

The Honor X80i has a 6.6-inch OLED display with a 2600 × 1200 resolution. The 120Hz display is slightly smaller than the 6.7-inch panel of the previous generation, but it is sharper and brighter as it has a peak brightness of 6500 nits. Honor has retained the pill-shaped cutout in the display.

Honor says the phone is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 6500 Elite processor, which is interesting considering MediaTek is yet to officially announce the chipset. The octa-core processor has two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.6GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It also has a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.

Despite being a new processor, it is a downgrade from the Dimensity 7025 Ultra of the Honor 70i which has two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz.

The Honor X80i will be available in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants with storage options starting at 128GB and maxing out at 512GB. For the cameras, Honor has equipped the phone with a 50MP f/1.8 sensor and an unspecified secondary sensor. The cut-out in the display is home to an 8MP f/2.0 camera.

The Honor X80i has improved durability compared to its predecessor.

The new phone also has Bluetooth 6.0, stereo speakers, support for LHDC 5.0 and LDAC, Wi-Fi 5, NFC, an IR blaster, an in-display fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support, and an IP66 dust and water resistance rating.

Honor says the phone is also stronger as its new production process and self-developed alloy material increases the rigidity of the chassis by 26%. It also mentions the X80i can survive drops from a height of up to 1.8 meters, and that its enhanced antenna design improves signal strength by up to 130%.

The Honor X80i is available in four colors.

The Honor X80i has a 7,000mAh battery and it charges at up to 45W, an upgrade from the 6000mAh battery and 35W charging of the X70i. In adddition, there's a 5th-generation ice-cooling system under the hood that improves cooling by up to 90% compared to the Honor X70i.

Available in Flowing Sand Pink, Lime Green, Moon Shadow White, and Obsidian Black, the Honor X80i is available to purchase now in China at the following prices:

  • 8GB RAM + 128GB = ¥1999 (~$290/€252)
