Case, equipment and operation
The Honor 10X Lite offers a plastic case that shimmers matt on the back. Fingerprints like to collect there, but the case in black or green looks quite chic and has a solid finish. The color variant Icelandic Frost is currently not available in Central Europe
At the front there is a modern design with punch-hole camera and narrow display edges. In terms of case and equipment, the smartphone largely corresponds to the Huawei P Smart 2021, only the camera module differs slightly.
In contrast to its predecessor Honor 9X Lite the 10X Lite comes now with Android 10 to you, but also without Google Apps, these can not be reinstalled. So the Google Play Store is not available, but Huaweis Alternative AppGallery, which is filled up properly, but also can't show the variety of the Play Store. The security patches from August are already out of date at the time of testing.
As far as the Internet equipment is concerned, however, Honor is a bit stingy: Here, there is only WiFi 4, although WiFi 5 is now standard and the predecessor WiFi 5 also came with it. Thus the Honor 10X Lite is under all comparison devices at the slowest in the Internet on the way. At least there is NFC for mobile payment services. Also the offered LTE frequencies are somewhat scarce, so that one should make oneself smart before journeys abroad whether the Internet functions locally in the LTE network.
On the right side of the case there is a fingerprint sensor built into the standby button. Unfortunately, it is not completely flush with the case, so that there are edges that can't be palpated beautifully, but the unlocking by finger is fast and reliable.

Cameras
In contrast to its predecessor, the camera system has been significantly expanded, so there is now a wide-angle lens and macro optics on the back. The main camera, however, is still the same: a 48 megapixel lens that combines four pixels each to achieve a higher light output, but also photographs in full resolution if desired
Somewhat pale pictures and not very exact detail were the problems of the main lens in the Honor 9X Lite and the Honor 10X Lite inherited most of it. In the magnification, some objects look blurred and pixelated, in low light and high contrasts, the representation is again quite decent for the price range.
The wide-angle camera offers decent dynamics, but you should not enlarge the pictures too much. The macro camera can only be used in a special mode, it offers a rather low resolution. What's great is that the camera software even allows a hybrid zoom between the wide-angle and standard lens.
Videos can only be recorded in FullHD and 30 fps, elsewhere you can get 4K recording in this price range. But we like the colors and lighting of the videos quite well.
Overall the camera system is clearly designed for snapshots, you shouldn't look too closely at the photos from all lenses, in detail they are sometimes very inaccurate

The screen of the Honor 10X Lite is not very bright and not as evenly lit as other devices. Also the black level and thus the contrast is at most within the acceptable range. So colors on the display are not very strong and fine color nuances are not so easy to distinguish.
However, the color representation itself is relatively exact in the "Natural" mode. Also, no blue cast can be seen in the grayscales in this mode. A PWM flicker is also not visible on the screen.

Performance, emissions and battery life
The Huawei Kirin 710A is based on the Kirin 710 and is based on the ARM architecture, but is manufactured in China. In our benchmarks, it offers very similar performance to its predecessor and can just about keep up with other smartphones in its price range. However, the Poco X3 shows that significantly more performance is possible at this price point.
In everyday use, there is only an occasional jerking, but if you run more complex apps, you shouldn't put an additional load on the smartphone. Also loading times take quite long, the Honor 10X Lite offers a lot of memory, but it is a slow eMMC flash. Our microSD card, a Toshiba Exceria Pro M501 is read and written quite fast.
The warming under load is locally strongly limited and not critical, but quite noticeable. The mono loudspeaker sounds quite tidy like its predecessor and reproduces voices and singing well understandably. It gets even better via 3.5mm connection or Bluetooth, where you get a clean sound signal.
The 5.000-mAh-battery is clearly larger than with the predecessor and thus also the run times in our WLAN test are longer by nearly 3 hours: 16:04 hours hold out Honor- cell phone. This is a very good value, but there are certainly smartphones in the price range that have even more endurance. Thanks to the newly supported 22.5-watt charging technology, the battery can be fully charged in under 2 hours even if it was previously empty.

Verdict
The Honor 10X Lite makes good progress in some places compared to its predecessor, so there is significantly more battery life, faster charging and a more modern case. Moreover, hardly any smartphones in this price segment offer a hybrid zoom.
But in other areas it falls behind the competition: there is no WiFi 5 on board, the cell phone cannot record 4K videos and the screen is relatively dark and low in contrast
A lot of memory, but slow WLAN and no Google Apps: The Honor 10X Lite is a solid smartphone, but it will have a hard time.
But the decisive argument is once again the lack of Google services: Some users might be happy that Google's monopoly on cheap smartphones is softening a bit and like to experiment with the possibilities of the App Gallery and Huaweis' own apps. But many will probably be annoyed about the missing and longtime beloved apps.
For someone who has been using Android smartphones for a long time, the Honor 10X Lite is a difficult choice, because it takes a lot of training and sometimes improvisational talent to cope with the missing apps.
Honor would probably have had to add a little more in terms of camera quality, performance and features to make the Honor 10X Lite suitable for mass production despite the limitations. Currently, it can only be recommended to buyers who do not use Google Apps anyway and who use the camera only for snapshots.
