The Haylou Watch 4 is a new and very affordable smartwatch that sports a GPS module, which makes it suitable for tracking numerous activities and workouts. The wearable further features a rotating crown but also comes with some limitations.
The manufacturer Haylou may be somewhat familiar to some of our readers. With the Haylou Watch 4, the brand now offers another rather inexpensive smartwatch, but there's a major limitation. The wearable is not directly available in many countries, but has to be imported via Chinese marketplaces like Aliexpress. The main selling point of the Haylou Watch 4 is likely the low price. It currently retails for $49 including free shipping, but deliveries will take around two weeks.
Despite the wallet-friendly price, the watch is equipped with a GPS module, which should enable precise tracking of certain outdoor actives and workouts, such as running. In combination with the usual optical sensors for heart rate measurement, the Haylou can be used to analyze the performance and also measure stress levels. Sleep tracking and many other useful features are also advertised.
In addition, the watch is equipped with a 1.93-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 320 x 380 pixels. There’s some protection against water and dust thanks to an IP68 certification, but the watch should not be used for snorkeling. Lastly, the Haylou Watch 4 has a typical battery life of up to seven days and sports a rotating crown, which is a well-known feature that's also found in all Apple Watch models.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

My fascination for technology goes back a long way to the Pentium II era. Modding, overclocking and treasuring computer hardware has since become an integral part of my life. As a student, I further developed a keen interest in mobile technologies that can make the stressful college life so much easier. After I fell in love with the creation of digital content while working in a marketing position, I now scour the web to bring you the most exciting topics in the world of tech. Outside the office, I’m particularly passionate about motorsports and mountain biking.
