ExpertReviews has published some hands-on photos of the Energizer Power Max P18K Pop and its ample 18,000 mAh battery. The smartphone, which Energizer has been displaying at MWC19, offers reasonable hardware on top of the stout battery that can also be used as a power bank. The P18K Pop has been priced at €600 (~US$681).

We reported on the Energizer Power Max P18K Pop in early February and mentioned the dimensions of the device: 6.02 x 2.94 x 0.71 in (153 x 74.8 x 18 mm). Unfortunately, it seems the numbers didn’t really do justice to the reality, as proven in photographs uploaded by ExpertReviews. It’s easy to see how the hefty-looking smartphone packs an 18,000 mAh battery when you’re not looking at a render of just the front display.

Along with the giant battery, Energizer has given the Power Max P18K Pop a 6.2-inch display, 6 GB RAM, and 128 GB storage. There are plenty of cameras for the happy snapper: rear-facing 12 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP shooters and a front-facing dual pop-up system with 16 MP + 2 MP sensors. The burly smartphone comes with Android 9 Pie and a MediaTek Helio P70 processor.

At €600, Energizer is taking a bit of a risk with the Power Max P18K Pop. It doesn’t offer the typical features of a ruggedized phone, so it may not appeal to outdoor users who would probably appreciate a large-capacity battery. It’s unlikely it will appeal to the fashion-conscious crowd either, as its thickset frame would create a rather unsightly bulge in any designer pants. However, it is perfect for people who want to watch 48 consecutive hours’ worth of video content without having to charge their smartphone.
