The crypto sector is beginning to heat up. In fact, it may already be there. Trading activity is picking up across the market, exchanges are adding more products, and the line between crypto and traditional finance continues to become increasingly blurred.

HTX appears to be benefiting from the currently positive market situation. The cryptocurrency exchange reportedly recorded more than $5.4 billion in combined spot and futures trading volume during August 2026, while continuing to expand its selection of stocks, indices and other traditional financial assets.

The impressive numbers are largely due to HTX's third trading championship, held as part of the exchange's 13th-anniversary celebrations. Spot trading volume during the competition exceeded 1.25 billion USDT, while futures trading topped 4.17 billion USDT. More than 40,000 traders participated.

But the trading numbers are only part of the story. HTX has been steadily pushing further into traditional finance, and August brought another sizeable expansion. The exchange added 56 new futures instruments, including 41 stocks and index products and 15 cryptocurrencies.

That brings HTX's available TradFi selection to 210 stocks and related instruments. The lineup includes US securities, global indices, ETFs and companies from Japan and South Korea.

Some of the additions are particularly interesting for investors watching the technology sector. They include SoftBank, PDD Holdings, Shein, Unitree Robotics, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, the Nikkei 225 and South Korea's KOSPI. HTX has also focused its expansion on areas such as AI hardware, semiconductors, e-commerce and high-dividend companies.

TradFi accounted for around $1.6 billion of HTX's August turnover. That figure shows how quickly traditional assets are becoming part of the trading mix on a platform better known for cryptocurrencies. In July, HTX's TradFi zone had already reached roughly $2.5 billion in cumulative trading volume.

Crypto activity remained strong as well. HTX became the first exchange to list Chinese meme coin Niu Lai on its spot market, after which the token surged 460%. AI-related tokens TAO and DOS were also added during the month.

Automated trading was another area of growth. Futures bot trading volume jumped 36% month over month, while copy trading and bot services expanded to cover 20 TradFi assets, including US stocks.

HTX also saw stronger demand for its Earn products. More than 30,000 users subscribed during its anniversary promotion, while subscriptions for new cryptocurrency products increased by more than 10% compared with July. The average daily number of margin traders rose 19%.

The latest figures follow an already busy first half of 2026. HTX reported more than $870.9 billion in combined spot and futures trading volume between January and June.
