HTC to unveil its first smartwatch on March 1st at MWC 2015 alongside the M9 Hima
As previously reported, a couple of days ago HTC started sending out invitations to a press event that the company is organizing on March 1st in Barcelona. The HTC press event will be held as part of the 2015 edition of the Mobile World Congress.
In addition to the rumored HTC M9 Hima smartphone, some rumors claim that the Taiwanese manufacturer could also unveil its first smartwatch at the same event. Previous rumors said that the M9 Hima won't be released until later in the month, and this possibility is still on the table.
As far as the rumored HTC smartwatch is concerned, leaksters and industry insiders have failed to bring up any detailed information. The Taiwanese manufacturer recently partnered with Under Armour, leading some to believe that the two companies will jointly create a smartwatch.
Rumors and leaks paint a rather inconsistent picture of the next flagship smartphone from HTC, but the most likely specs include a 5-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 810 chip from Qualcomm paired with 3 or 4GB of RAM, a 20.7MP primary camera on the back, and an Ultrapixel camera on the front. A report published today by Bloomberg seems to put extra weight behind those rumors claiming that HTC is looking to build a better camera phone with the Hima.
With a few good weeks to go before MWC 2015 kicks off, chances are that HTC's event will be preceded by more rumors about both the M9 Hima and the mysterious HTC smartwatch. Other major smartphone manufacturers such as Sony and Samsung are also expected to unveil new flagships at MWC 2015.
