HP confirms 4G TouchPad
Remember the rumored 4G-enabled TouchPad? HP has officially confirmed its existence this Tuesday and it will be heading to the AT&T network.
Additionally, the 4G radio won’t be the only upgrade the TouchPad will see. According to the HP blog post, the TouchPad 4G will have a faster 1.5GHz CPU with a 32GB SDD. CRN.com, however, says the TouchPad 4G will not be using AT&T’s Long Term Evolution (LTE) network and will instead rely on the carrier’s HSPA+ 4G network.
Exact launch dates and availability are still a mystery for now. Whether or not the 4G TouchPad will land on other carriers in the U.S. is also unknown. Fortunately, the source gives a rough release window of this fall, since the TouchPad 4G should be available before the time schools reopen.
The currently available 9.7-inches WiFi-only TouchPad offers a 1.2GHz APQ8060 Snapdragon CPU, 1GB RAM, a 1.3MP front-facing webcam and the webOS 3.0 software.
