Down-to-earth. That's the best way to describe the new HP entry level business notebook. A new case design, solid construction, and up-to-date hardware, as well as a 15.6 inch display, are the most important prerequisites. Is the HP ProBook 4530s with a price tag of around 700 Euros (RRP) also good value for money?

Archive.org versionIt can’t match the extensive connectivity of some of its competitors, but the ProBook 4530s is still an excellent business laptop. Beyond the eye-pleasing styling, it has solid performance at a mid-range price. The superb keyboard makes it a joy to use and battery life is above what we would expect. If you don’t mind losing a few ports, it’s a great all-round business machine.

Archive.org versionThe device weighs in at 2.5kg, which is pretty impressive considering it measures 374 x 256 x 28.7mm. It would make a good desktop replacement system, but mobile road warriors would require something less bulky. The 4530s is a well-specified laptop for the price, and light for its size. It is quite bulky, and would be better as a desktop replacement system, than as a road warrior's system.

Business Sale? HP is selling their no longer new ProBook 4530s for prices significantly lower than 500 Euros (~$651). Through utilizing their cash-back offer the current price is reduced to 398 Euros (~$518). Our test reveals whether or not this is an opportunity to take advantage of.

In 2023, HP had an approximate market share of 22% of global PC sales, making it number 2 after Lenovo.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
Intel HD Graphics 3000: Integrated graphics card in the Intel Sandy Bridge processors (Core ix-2xxx). The HD 3000 is the faster (internally GT2 called) version with 12 Execution Units (EUs).
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
AMD Radeon HD 6470M: Entry to middle class graphics card based on the Seymore XT codename featuring the UVD3 video processor.
AMD Radeon HD 6490M: Entry to middle class graphics card based on the Seymore XT codename with support for fast GDDR5. The chip can be clocked at 700-750 with GDDR5 and 800 with slow DDR3.

Dual-core processor based on the Sandy Bridge architecture with an integrated graphics card and dual-channel DDR3 memory controller. The CPU is clocked at 2.1 GHz and features the Turbo Boost 2.0 only for the graphics card (650/1100MHz).
2350M:
Dual-core processor based on the Sandy Bridge architecture with an integrated graphics card and dual-channel DDR3 memory controller. The CPU is clocked at 2.3 GHz and features the Turbo Boost 2.0 only for the graphics card.
Intel Core i5:
2410M:
Dual-core processor based on the Sandy Bridge architecture with an integrated graphics card and dual-channel DDR3 memory controller. The CPU is clocked at 2.3 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.6-2.9 GHz) and the GPU at 650 (1200 MHz Turbo).
Intel Celeron:
B810: Entry level dual core processor for laptops with integrated graphics card (Intel HD Graphics based on the HD Graphics 2000) and reduced features of the Sandy Bridge core (no Turbo Boost, AES, ...).
