HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2
The reputation of HP in their EliteBook always gets great evaluations from most review pages. For instance, regarding page TrustedReviews, “HP’s EliteBook line has been a mainstay of business laptops for years, and the EliteBook x360 G2 is perhaps the company’s most attractive yet”. Considered the flagship of the business 2-in-1 line, this ultraportable notebook with the exceptional design, the powerful performance, a standout keyboard and a wide array of security features in a package is so appealing that “no one will believe that you actually got it from work” (page LaptopMag).Design
Like a comment from LaptopMag, HP’s winning streak with premium design continues with the EliteBook x360 G2, which is the most stunning business machine that the reviewer has ever seen. He described it as the silver, aluminum unibody laptop using the company’s modern logo found only on its top-of-the-line machines. For page TrustedReviews, the EliteBook x360 G2 is super-lighting as well (with just 1.28kg), which is only 40g more than Dell’s competing XPS 13 2-in-1: “This machine will slide into any satchel or backpack without weighing you down”. Furthermore, according to page ComputerShopper, this EliteBook x360 is something of a showcase for 2017’s business laptops: “It shows how slick and thoughtful hardware design, security-minded detail, and attention paid to how business users really work can merge into a machine that’s more than the sum of its parts”. Despite running a low power Intel Core M CPU (like the 12 inch Apple MacBook), following a remark of page CNet.com, it was slim, light, had a great display and a rock-solid overall design. It expertly straddled the line between form and function, and was a great example of a crossover laptop that was a good choice for coffee shop consumers as for cubicle careerist. The reviewer from page ArsTechnica also gave her opinion that the diamond-cut accents around the notebook gave it a nice high-end touch that none of the Spectre that she had tested had had. Beside that, this page also added this convertible EliteBook x360 G2 had edges that we could feel and that reflected slices of sunlight on a bright day. “According to HP, designing the EliteBook x360 to visually complement a user’s smartphone makes it more attractive to business users who put a premium on aesthetic”, said page PCMag.Display
Talking about the display of the EliteBook x360 G2, the reviewer of LaptopMag reported that the EliteBook’s display produced vivid colors, but the screen wasn’t very bright: “When I watched the trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming, I had to pump up the brightness all the way, and I still had trouble making out the dark green in the Vulture’s suit”. On the contrary, as an evaluation on page TrustedReviews, the 13.3 inch Full HD IPS panel of this ultrabook is excellent: “While it won’t meet the extreme needs of professional photographers with its 83.2% sRGB color gamut, it will be fine for everybody else, with colors appearing bright and punchy”. The ComputerShopper left a positive comment for its display that it was reflective, glossy, screen with excellent viewing angles and reasonable color depth. This page also thought that this panel was what HP terms “UWVA” for “Ultra-wide viewing angle”, functionally equivalent to the wide-angle viewing we’ve seen from many IPS screens in laptops of its class. With the same perspective, the PCMag said that the 13.3 inch, Full HD display is bright and clear, and HP will offer 4K option later this year. Another option is HP’s Sure View privacy screen, which limits viewing angles to around 20 degrees of dead center of the display. “However, with a brightness of 239 nits, the EliteBook isn’t as bright as other 2-in-1s. The average is 300 nits, and the XPS 13 2-in-1 and the X1 Yoga were brighter than this HP”, LaptopMag stated.Keyboard, Trackpad, and Stylus
About keyboard, PCMag remarked that the backlit and chiclet-style keyboard was comfortable to use, and had extra function keys on the top row for starting and ending Skype for Business calls. “I used it as my primary computer for a few days, and one of my favourite things about it was the typing experience. With 1.3mm of travel, the chiclet keys are satisfying to press and comfortably spaced. The keys are laid out like any regular keyboard with no surprise button-size changes or awkward key shifts” (page ArsTechnica). Considered a plus point from page ComputerShopper, this page supposed that HP dubbed the keyboard in the EliteBook x360 a “premium collaboration keyboard” and we had to give the company credit for a distinct focus on business communication in the design here. For page TrustedReviews, they said that the matte black keys were nicely backlit, grippy and had a positive and responsive action that made typing a breeze. Beside the usual shortcuts, like changing the volume and brightness, as a review of LaptopMag, there are a few keys on the function row specifically for business: “There are dedicated keys to answer and hang up on the Skype for Business calls, as well as a button that goes straight to your Outlook calendar”. Moreover, regarding PCMag, the one-piece touchpad is responsive, and supports the usual multi-touch commands - like zoom in and out, scroll, and right-click - if we are using the system in Laptop mode or Conference mode. “The Precision Touchpad complements the keyboard by being smooth to use and seamless when using different gestures”, commented ArsTechnica. Particularly, as a remark of TrustedReviews, this ultrabook is a good piece of kit, although it still meets the case with HP Spectre x360 15: “I didn’t find the touchpad a little insensitive to subtle cursor movement. It isn’t a major problem and most people won’t notice”. In addition, HP also includes a stylus in the box, following a remark of LaptopMag, the stylus itself offers 2048 degrees of pressure sensitivity and feels natural to hold. Also, Powered by Wacom Technology, which is the best in the business, the Stylus works with Windows Ink as well, so all the extra features included Windows 10 Anniversary and Creators updates work perfectly (commented from TrustedReviews).Audio
The cooperation between HP and Bang & Olufsen again tunes the company’s speakers, so they are a bit of a mixed bag (LaptopMag’s review). The reviewer of this page also added that when he had listened to White Rabbits’ “Percussion Gun”, the vocals, choral chanting and namesake drums had been all balanced, but he had found the sound to be quiet for his taste. In the same viewpoint, TrustedReviews stated that the speakers were also fine: “While they don’t have much room to breathe in the chassis, they can pump out a decent volume that will be more than good enough for sharing video presentations with the colleagues, or even streaming a bit of Netflix when you get home”. “The Bang and Olufsen branded speakers sound excellent, and HP noise cancellation helps clarify your interactions during conference calls in which you use the laptop like a speakerphone” (quoted from PCMag).Performance
Armed with a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7-7600U CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 512 PCIe solid-state drive, according to LaptopMag, the EliteBook x360 G2 is more than prepared for a cornucopia of research and spreadsheets: “I had 30 tabs open in Google Chrome, including one streaming a 1080p episode of “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” from YouTube, and I saw no sign of slowdown”. The reviewer of TrustedReviews also showed their mind positively that he had found the Wi-Fi performance to be on a par with other high-end ultrabooks, and it had been quick to connect to every network he had tried. Similarly, as evaluated from ArsTechnica, this laptop was stable and powerful enough to get the reviewer through a regular work day: “Browsing multiple tabs, using many Windows apps, and streaming music and videos wasn’t met with any hiccups of too many slow-downs”. It’s standard Ultrabook performance without many surprises. Nevertheless, with its integrated Intel HD Graphics 620, the EliteBook x360 isn’t a strong graphics performer. It ran the Dirt 3 benchmark at just 21 fps, typing the XPS 13 but falling below the average (33 fps) and our 30 fps playability threshold (tested from LaptopMag).Emissions
Heat and noise, as commented on page TrustedReviews, were perfectly acceptable: “When idle, the laptop is near-silent - although as you open programs a constant whirring of the fan will interrupt the decorum, but not to any disturbing extent. It’s only under extreme load that the fans start to fire up”. Like a report for thermal from LaptopMag, this notebook stayed nice and comfortable after they streamed HD video from YouTube for 15 minutes; it measured 5 °C (77 Fahrenheit) on the touchpad, 83 degrees at the center of the keyboard and 86 on the bottom. At the one point near the hinge, it reached 94 degrees, but that’s still lower than their 94-degree comfort threshold.Battery
In the PCMag’s battery rundown test, “The EliteBook x360 lasted 14 hours and 3 minutes, which means that you’ll be able to use it for the equivalent of two work days unplugged if you bring the laptop home, but forget the AC adapter at the office”. Meanwhile, for LaptopMag, the EliteBook should last us through most (if not all) of our workday: This 2-in-1 one endured for 9 hours and 17 minutes on the LaptopMag battery test, handily beating 8:13 ultraportable average. Also, like a positive comment TrustedReviews, this EliteBook x360 G2’s battery is excellent, putting in one of the best performances the reviewer has ever seen in a while: “On a normal day for me, which includes heaps of power-hungry browser tabs, email and word processing, I was able to get nearly a full eight hours out of it, with the screen at a little over half brightness”.Verdict
In general, “The HP EliteBook x360 G2 is the business laptop that I wish my company would issue. It’s beautifully designed, has a great keyboard for typing on the go, and battery life that will last throughout the workday. While I’d be unlikely to use all the 2-in-1 modes on a day-to-day basis, it’s nice to have the option” (LaptopMag’s verdict). Honestly, there are a lot of outstanding pros for this ultrabook, like the extremely handsome and premium design, long battery life, or even good performance. Regardless of the display which is not so bright, I think the EliteBook x360 G2 totally could conquer most business users with its advantages above. Finally, to conclude shortly for this laptop, the EliteBook x360 G2 is considered “a quality laptop that isn’t just for business” (quoted from TrustedReviews). This is a business grade notebook – good for several years of hard business use. It meets 95% of my shopping list at a price that is within budget. Add to that HP Australia’s very good 3 year warranty and after sales service and it is the clear winner.

It adds up to one of the most versatile and well-rounded convertible laptops around. It’s got all the ports you could wish for, plenty of power, great battery life and it also makes the right impression when you use it in meetings. For organisations that want to offer workers the flexibility of a tablet, but stay in the Windows ecosystem, the HP EliteBook X360 is an excellent choice.

Not bad. This, coupled with the thin and light nature of the machine, makes for a great travel companion, even if it doesn’t quite scream the kind of raw power that we’re used to seeing here at APC.

This is one of HP’s finest laptops of 2017, and it’s a firm rival to the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1. Granted, the HP is slightly thicker, the package including the power brick is a little heavier and the SSD is slower. However, it has a much faster processor and an equally attractive design.

Compromising a bit on the components would reduce none of the handy business-collaboration or security features, and you'd still retain 100 percent of the top-notch design. This will be a machine you'd be proud to be seen with, and little burdened to carry. It's among the top ranks of business 2-in-1s you can buy today, so if it takes a little horse-trading on the parts to get one in your hands, know: It's worth it.

The HP Elitebook X360 G2 is no doubt a pretty good device designed for the business users. It flaunts a premium design, built and high-end specifications. It has a powerful processor with the latest operating system and a decent battery backup. Along with all this, it comes with a hefty price tag of Rs 1,61,496 which can be a turn off for many. You can also consider going for a MacBook if you are willing to spend this much. Moreover, we do feel that the convertible is a bit overpriced when compared to the other business laptops available in the market.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2-1EN97EA
The HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2-1EN97EA is a convertible laptop built with privacy control technology. HP has installed a 13.3-inch display with Sure View, which limits the viewing angle at the request of the user. With activated Sure View, the screen content can only be viewed from the front, so that fellow travelers can’t read along in the train or on the plane. The convertible laptop uses a 13.3-inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass. The touch-sensitive display has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The average illumination without Sure View is 234 cd/m². In addition to touch, pen inputs are supported. Due to the two 360 degree hinges, the screen can be folded completely around the base unit to the rear. This model also uses a privacy screen, which can be activated by a key combination. The world's only integrated privacy protection prevents data and passwords from falling victim to prying eyes. In collaboration with 3M, the HP's electronic privacy technology limits the viewing angle of the IPS panel with the push of a button, protecting against visual data theft. The display is not only darkened but also the viewing angle is severely limited. When the privacy screen is activated, the screen content can only be viewed from the front. Instead of the typical IPS viewing angle, which is 178 degrees, the viewing angle is restricted to 35 degrees. Like all EliteBook series notebooks, HP also uses an all-cast aluminum body for this model. In the slim and lightweight notebook, HP has installed an Intel Core i7 processor, which is very energy-efficient. This is a 7th generation processor running at 2.8 GHz base clock. In turbo mode, the clock frequency is automatically raised to 3.9 GHz. For the graphics calculations, the integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 is used. The main memory consists of 16 GB of type DDR4 and is soldered firmly to the motherboard. The memory cannot be extended. The operating system, in this case, Windows 10 Pro, is preinstalled on a 512 GB M.2 SSD module. This has 406 GB of free storage space for delivery. The HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2 1EN97EA has a large spill-resistant keyboard The chiclet-style keys are all a decent size, with just two directional keys downsized and sharing space. In front of the keyboard is a large touchpad in the middle, which detects the multi gesture. HP's EliteBook has several protections to protect against third parties. In the BIOS, a password can be stored, which is already queried at boot time. In terms of hardware, a security chip (TPM 2.0) is installed which, among other things, encrypts the data on the SSD module. There is also a smart card reader on the side and HP has placed the fingerprint sensor on the wrist rest. This also protects the system against third parties. The Elitebook x360 1030 G2-1EN97EA is a power packed convertible for the demanding users. It is not your average convertible notebook. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3
The HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is the company’s new flagship 13.3-inch convertible that packs virtually all premium technologies that HP has to offer and brings together performance and compactness. HP updated the EliteBook x360 business-class convertible notebook, which features smaller bezels for a more compact design, a CNC unibody aluminum chassis, and an option for a much brighter display. The laptop measures about 30,48 x 20,57 x 1,52 cm (12 x 8.1 x 0.6 inch) and weighs about 1,37 kg (2.8 pounds). While that makes the new model about the same weight as its predecessor, it has an overall smaller footprint thanks to side bezels that are half the size of the 2nd-gen model. The computer has a 360-degree hinge that allows a user to use it in the notebook, tablet, tent, or stand modes. And it also supports a digital pen which attaches to the side of the notebook magnetically. HP has once again sourced Chi Mei for the sharp Gorilla Glass 4-protected 1080p touchscreen on the EliteBook x360 1030 G3. It is a 13.3" FHD (1920x1080) Touchscreen Sure View Privacy display panel. The bright backlight, in particular, is a significant improvement over the relatively dim and less accurate display of the older EliteBook x360 1030 G2. However, such a bright screen will inevitably affect the battery life of the machine. Color space covers the entirety of the sRGB standard and 62 percent of AdobeRGB. Results are comparable to the latest flagship Ultrabooks like the XPS 13, Blade Stealth, or Spectre 13. Other features include 4 B&O certified speakers, a 1080p camera with IR camera support for facial recognition, a multi-array microphone setup, and a spill-resistant backlit keyboard. In addition, the convertible has a Full HD webcam with IR sensors for Windows Hello facial recognition. The notebook has a 56.2 Wh battery, and HP says a user can charge both the laptop and its digital pen using a USB Type-C adapter. Speaking of the pen, it offers proximity alerts, letting a user know if he has walked too far away from the pen so that he doesn’t accidentally leave it in a room when he leaves it. Another strong selling point of the EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is connectivity. The new convertibles are equipped with Intel’s dual-band Wireless-AC 8265 module supporting 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2, a 4G/LTE modem with or without GPS, as well as NXP’s NPC300 I2C NCI NFC controller. The notebook features two Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C ports, a USB 3.1 Type-A port, HDMI and headset jacks, and a nano-SIM card slot on models with integrated 4G LTE support. Since the EliteBook x360 1030 G3 can work in both laptop and tablet modes, it naturally also features an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a magnetometer, and a Hall effect sensor. Spectre in disguse. The latest model in the super-sleek EliteBook x360 series manages to be even smaller than last year's model. A few features had to be cut, but we think it's well worth the sacrifice for on-the-go business users.

Prices start at around NZ$2,800. That money gets you a model with an Intel Core i5 processor along with a graphics processor, 8 GB ram and 256 GB storage. That lessw expensive models support 1920×1080 graphics.

The EliteBook x360 1030 G3 Core i7 SKU is a perfect example of why a pricier configuration may not always be the fastest when compared to a less expensive SKU. The Core i7 CPU on our HP is measurably slower than the same model with the more affordable Core i5.

Said upgrades enhance a laptop that already boasts an excellent keyboard and trackpad, decent battery life, top-notch build quality and a comprehensive list of security options. A heady mix, but we still fall short of absolute perfection as fan noise continues to be a bugbear, the top-end Core i7 chip will throttle when pushed, and though the display is brighter, it lacks the wow factor on offer from some of the competition.

Other than these small issues, we found the HP EliteBook x360 1030 to be an outstanding product for mobile professionals, students and home users alike. Its 2-in-1 design offers the flexibility the modern work force sometimes needs and it has battery life that competes with the best of breed out there currently. HP also offers plenty of optional accessories to further increase productivity, while the EliteBook x360's sleek chassis will look great in the conference room, coffee shop or classroom. All told, the new 3rd generation HP EliteBook x360 1030 is HotHardware Recommended.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G8’s IPS panel (IVO X133NVFF R0 (IVO8596)) in the configuration we tested has a Full HD resolution, very high maximum brightness, great contrast ratio and covers 90% of the sRGB gamut. Its backlight doesn’t flicker, making it safe for long periods of use. Additionally, the Sure View technology works great (if you need it), although the additional layer impacts the viewing angles even when the feature is turned off. Unfortunately, we measured a very high deviation in the luminance across the surface of the screen. This, combined with the rather poor color accuracy (although our Gaming and Web design improves the situation by a mile), makes the laptop less desirable for designers, and artists in general.
