Google has released the November 2022 update for Pixel smartphones. According to a Google Support page, all Pixel smartphones from the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a (5G) onwards are eligible for this month's update, with Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL software support expiring last month. For reference, this month's update will only arrive if you have already upgraded your handset to Android 13.
While Google has not included many specific bug fixes for the Pixel 4 or Pixel 5 series, the November 2022 Android security patch address nearly four dozen security issues. Conversely, the update fixes an issue that caused increased power consumption while certain apps, albeit unspecified, are installed on the Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Supposedly, this issue occurred regardless of whether these apps were open or running in the background.
Additionally, Google has included three Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro-specific bug fixes, the details of which we have reproduced below. Hopefully, the three bug fixes will deliver quality-of-life improvements for Google's latest flagship smartphones.
- Fix for issue occasionally causing green display flicker in certain conditions,
- Optimizations for display power consumption to improve thermal performance in certain conditions.
- Fix for issue occasionally causing Photos app to crash when using certain editing features.
