Rabbit R1 and Humane AI Pin have had a short run after being announced. The craze around these AI-powered devices went down soon after release. Now, a Google-backed startup has decided to take a different approach, bringing generative AI into an accessory you might already use regularly: wireless earbuds. They're called Iyo One, and you can preorder a pair now.

Humane AI Pin and Rabbit R1 launched with the aim of integrating AI a little more into our lives. But they didn't quite meet their goal, with both of them losing their charm shortly after launch. Well, this didn't stop Iyo, a Google-backed startup. It has just announced a new AI-powered product that you likely use on a regular basis: wireless earbuds.

Called Iyo One, the generative AI wireless earbuds come with many interesting features. Among them are conversation boost, workout coaching, and live translation. Along with all that, you get access to Iyo's "growing ecosystem of conversational applications."

Of course, these generative AI earbuds don't only bring AI-powered features. You also get some aspects of the other premium Bluetooth earbuds, which include noise cancellation, 360-degree audio, and an IP68 rating. So, when you're not using the AI smarts, you can use them as a regular pair of buds for listening to music.

As for the price, it's a little higher than what you would have to pay for a pair of premium Bluetooth earbuds (Sony WF-1000XM5 curr. $248 on Amazon). The starting price is $599, which is for the WiFi variant. If you want to get the WiFi + LTE model of the Iyo One, you would need to spend $699.

On the note of the price, Iyo isn't charging a monthly fee for the generative AI features. That means you're making a one-time purchase to get the One wireless earbuds. Both variants are up for preorder now, requiring a deposit of $59 or $69 based on the model you choose. But you might want to see the buds being released and tested before going all-in, as these AI-powered devices tend to make many promises they can't fulfill.
