The Google Pixel Watch 3 45mm (2024 model) in black, silver, or gold has dropped to its lowest price ever on Amazon following a 33-percent discount off its MSRP of $299.99, for a total savings of $100.
Although Notebookcheck has only reviewed the original Google Pixel Watch and Google Pixel Watch 2, the general consensus among other reviewers is that the Google Pixel Watch 3 remains a solid buy as a daily driver. It is a good alternative to other top Google Wear OS-powered watches, including the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 (also sold on Amazon for $229.99), with some cons.
The Google Pixel Watch 3 is compatible with smartphones running Android 10.0 or newer, unlike the Galaxy Watch 7 that requires Android 11.0 or newer. Its 45mm face is also larger than the 44mm Watch 7, although thicker by 0.1 in (2.54 mm) and heavier by 0.1 oz. (2.83 g). The Pixel Watch 3 also has a more rounded appearance.
The Google smartwatch is rated to run up to 24 hours between charges, according to the company, so it is not the first choice for long-distance hikers and ultramarathoners, who should be looking at pricier, solar-powered Garmin watches like the Fenix 8 (sold here on Amazon). Additionally, the Pixel Watch 3 cannot be repaired, unlike the easily-repaired Pixel Watch 4 when the battery is worn out.
Nonetheless, the Watch 3 has useful pros, including a 2,000-nit display, Fitbit activity tracking integration, fall and cardiac arrest detection, Google TV control, and Nest Cam live feeds.
