It may have taken Google five months, but it has finally shared all details about the Pixel 7 Pro, as well as the Pixel 7. While the Pixel 7 Pro retains a 6.7-inch display like its predecessor, Google has built this large panel within a nominally shorter chassis. Specifically, the Pixel 7 Pro measures 162.9 x 76.6 x 8.9 mm and weighs 212 g, compared to the 163.9 x 75.9 x 8.9 mm and 210 g footprint of the Pixel 6 Pro.
According to Google, the Pixel 7 Pro relies on an AMOLED panel operating at 3,120 x 1,440 pixels with an LTPO backplane for variable refresh rates up to 120 Hz. Predictably, Google has covered the device's front and rear with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, which surrounds the revised camera housing. As expected, the Pixel 7 Pro has the same cameras as its predecessor, at least on the face of it. Google has included autofocus on the former's ultra-wide-angle camera though, which the latter's lacked.
Also, the Pixel 7 Pro offers 4.8x optical zoom on its telephoto camera. Unfortunately, this is not necessarily an upgrade, as we discussed earlier this week. Elsewhere, the Pixel 7 Pro provides 30x digital zoom via its 50 MP primary camera and shares its 10.8 MP front-facing camera with the Pixel 7. Seemingly, the device's primary camera remains unchanged from the Pixel 6 Pro.
Moreover, the Pixel 7 Pro utilises the Google Tensor G2, a Titan M2 security chip and a 5,000 mAh battery. Google has not provided thorough performance comparisons between the Tensor and the Tensor G2 yet, but leaks suggested that there would be significant GPU improvements, reduced power consumption and marginal CPU gains.
The Pixel 7 Pro is available to pre-order from today for €899 with 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage in Hazel, Obsidian and Snow colourways. Alternatively, the handset is available with 256 GB of storage for €999, although both versions ship with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Like its predecessor, Google will not be selling a 512 GB model in Europe. Incidentally, Google is offering a complimentary Pixel Watch with pre-orders until October 17. Surprisingly, the company will bundle the LTE model, which retails for €429.
