Before the OnePlus 13 launched in the global market, the predecessor got a taste of OxygenOS 15 through the beta program. Besides the other new features, the beta build brought an interesting addition: powered-off Find My Device tracking. However, the last-generation flagship phone doesn't have hardware support for it.
To be specific, the OnePlus 12 lacks FastConnect 7900, which is required for powered-off Find My Device tracking. The OnePlus 13, on the other hand, features the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and it has the required connectivity subsystem. So, when users were testing OxygenOS 15 beta on the last-gen device, many believed that the company's new flagship phone would come with proper support for this rare tracking feature, and it did.
In case you missed it, the OnePlus 13 has made its global debut, and it ships with the stable build of OxygenOS 15. As confirmed by Android Authority, the global version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship does indeed come with powered-off Find My Device tracking.
Android Authority further confirms that users can locate their OnePlus 13 several hours after the phone is powered off. This makes the phone stand among the very few phones that come with this functionality. To fill you in, before OnePlus' global Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship phone launched, only the devices within the Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series (128 GB Pixel 9 Pro curr. $859.99 on Amazon) had offline tracking support.
It's still unclear whether the Chinese OnePlus 13 and the Ace 5 Pro have the feature, as they run on ColorOS instead of OxygenOS. However, both Android skins have the same codebase, so users in China should also have access to this nifty anti-theft feature.
