With only one hour of battery life and dual Nvidia GTX 1070s, the Aorus X9 should really be considered a foldable desktop rather than a gaming laptop. But, holy hell, is it powerful.

It may have some design shortcomings, and the Aorus X9 certainly isn't cheap, but the power of two graphics cards in a fairly slim gaming laptop is an appealing prospect.

Aorus' new 17-inch gaming flagship is powerful, solidly built, overflowing with RGB bling, and slim given its dual GTX 1070 setup. Just mind the very brief battery life, and the usual shortcomings of SLI that might make a single GTX 1080 design a better bet.

With a winning combination of a 4K display, mechanized keyboard and solid performance, the Gigatyte Aorus X9 is almost-certainly going to be the gaming laptop you’ll wish you had.

Bottom line: enthusiast gamers willing to tolerate the foibles of SLI may be inclined to take a gamble with the X9, for everyone else, the sleeker, lighter and better equipped X7 v7 remains the safer bet.

Aorus X9

The Aorus X9 is a stunning machine and embodies the Aorus brand perfectly. The company surely won’t sell many, but as a so-called ‘halo’ product that influences future, more affordable Aorus laptops, it’s brilliant. I’d go as far to say that it ties with the Asus ROG Zephyrus as the most technically impressive laptop at Computex 2017.

Gigabyte's Aorus X9 laughs at affordability
Source: CNet English
It bears the supercar design hallmarks of a lot of portable gaming machines, from the brushed, sweeping curves to the trimmed, carefully cut exhaust vents on top and bottom. It's fitting, because you can look at this sort of computational overkill like you would a performance vehicle. Your average person may not need it, or even know how to use it. But damn, do they want it.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 SLI (Laptop): Two high-end GTX 1070 in SLI combination. The 3D performance depends on the driver support for the game and may range from 0 - 90% faster than a single GTX 1070. These graphics cards are able to play the latest and most demanding games in high resolutions and full detail settings with enabled Anti-Aliasing. » Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
7820HK: Quad-core notebook processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture running at 2.9 - 3.9 GHz. It is the second fastest model of the consumer H-series in the beginning of 2017. The chip also integrates the HD Graphics 630 GPU clocked at 350 - 1100 MHz and is manufactured in a 14 nm process (improved compared to Skylake). Compared to the Core i7-7820HQ, the 7820HK lacks business features like vPro or TXT support.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
17.3":

This large display size is used for laptops which are mainly intended for an use on a desk.

Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.

3.5 kg:

This weight is representative for typical laptops with a 14-16 inch display-diagonal.

Gigabyte: GIGABYTE Technology is a Taiwan-based manufacturer of computer hardware products best known for its motherboards. Established in 1986, its major customers include custom boutique PC manufacturers such as Alienware. Secondary lines in the company's product portfolio include complete PCs, laptops, optical drives, LCD monitors, keyboards, mice, cooling components, mobile phones and high end mobile phone products (PDA phone, TV phone etc.), networking equipment, power supplies, and a line of barebone mid and full sized ATX computer cases. Gigabyte laptop reviews are rare and the global laptop market share low.

In the notebook sector, Gigabyte is a medium player and does not belong to the Top 10 manufacturers globally. There are many reviews on Gigabyte laptops with average ratings, but there are only few reviews on Gigabyte tablets. Gigabyte does not play a role in the smartphone sector (as of 2016).

78%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
