GeForce RTX 5090D: Leak suggests Nvidia is preparing China-exclusive GPU
The next-generation GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs are expected to debut next year. A leak has now revealed the logo for the high-end GeForce RTX 5090D graphics card. This GPU is expected to be China-exclusive similar to the RTX 4090D that was launched last year.
Due to U.S. export restrictions, Nvidia has to launch a watered-down version of its flagship GPUs. Hence, the RTX 4090D was launched in China with a lower core count and lower TDP than the standard RTX 4090 (Available on Amazon). Moreover, the China-exclusive card was also not overclockable.
The new leak from MEGAsizeGPU reveals the logo for the GeForce RTX 5090D card. Currently, there are no official details regarding the GPU. However, as with the RTX 4090D, the next-gen GPU may also have less core count and lower TDP compared to the standard RTX 5090.
Apart from these differences, the rest of the GPU may remain identical. Both the standard and the Chinese variants are expected to utilize TSMC's 4NP process. The cards are expected to be based on Blackwell architecture. The standard variant may feature 448-bit GDDR7 video memory and consume up to 500W of power.
The RTX 5090D is said to be named after the Dragon, a prominent symbol in the Chinese zodiac. This suggests that the card could launch before the Lunar New Year on January 28th, marking the transition from the Year of the Dragon to the Year of the Snake.
