Deal | Gaming hardware bundle with 24-core CPU, 32 GB DDR5 RAM sees $390 discount

Thanks to massive data center demand, prices for DRAM and NAND chips have skyrocketed in recent quarters. This has made the process of building a new gaming rig considerably more painful, due to ever-increasing prices for consumer hardware.

Thankfully, bundle deals do pop up every now and then, offering potential customers a means of saving some serious cash. For instance, Micro Center is now offering a sizable $390 discount for a bundle that includes the powerful Core Ultra 7 270K Plus CPU, a Gigabyte Z890 Eagle Wi-Fi 7 motherboard, and 32 GB of DDR5-6000 RAM, bringing its price down to just under $600. 

The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus was announced quite recently and promises an impressive value proposition. The Arrow Lake-Refresh CPU features a total of 24 cores and 24 threads, consisting of 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores.

In most benchmarks, the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus CPU outperforms the Core Ultra 9 285K by around 2% or so. In productivity workloads, the CPU keeps up with the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, which itself costs a whopping $499 on Amazon as of this writing.

In fact, the current king of the gaming hill, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, only features a roughly 10% improvement over the 270K+ in 1440p gaming benchmarks. The above data is courtesy of TechPowerUp's review of the 270K Plus CPU. 

The Gigabyte Z890 Eagle Wi-Fi 7 Plus motherboard is also a pretty good product, featuring a total of four M.2 slots for tons of storage and 14+1+2 phase VRMs with 60 A VCore power stages. As the name suggests, Wi-Fi 7 is already present, while 2.5G Ethernet takes care of wired networking requirements. 

The Ripjaws S5 32 GB DDR5-6000 CL36 kit (2 x 16 GB) from G.Skill is pretty well optimized for Intel, as revealed by Tom's Hardware's review of the kit.

Clearly, folks who already intended to build themselves an Intel-powered gaming/productivity rig, can now save themselves quite a lot of money by going with the Micro Center bundle. Interested customers are requested to note that the bundle is only available for in-store pickup.
