YouTuber and modder Dark Space has recreated GTA 6’s open world in GTA 5 using details from the trailer and known leaks. The mod is already playable and a one-hour video offers a first look.

As anticipation for GTA 6 grows, Rockstar Games remains tight-lipped, leaving fans to entertain themselves while waiting for the second trailer. Embracing the speculation, YouTuber and modder Dark Space has released a playable recreation of the rumored GTA 6 map within GTA 5.

Named "Project Vice" in homage to Vice City, GTA 6’s setting, the mod is based on the official trailer, leaks and speculation. Still, it gives fans a chance to explore the game world and ease the wait for official updates.

The map features key areas like Vice Beach and the Venetian Islands, recreated at a 1:1 scale for realistic proportions. However, as the mod is still in development, some elements, such as AI traffic and nighttime lighting, are missing. Project Vice is available for the Enhanced Edition of GTA 5 and FiveM servers. Players can download it for free via the Dark Space Studios Discord channel. For a first look, the YouTuber has shared a one-hour video showcasing the mod:

Concern about legal action by Rockstar Games

The YouTube community's response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the project's attention to detail and dedication. However, some viewers worry about potential legal issues, as Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have previously shut down similar fan projects. A notable example is the Liberty City Preservation Project (LCPP), which aimed to bring GTA 4’s Liberty City into GTA 5. The project was discontinued in January 2025 after the developers were contacted by Rockstar.
