Fenix LR50R V2.0: New flashlight offers 1,800 lumens, 925 yards of throw and OLED display

Fenix Lighting has introduced the LR50R V2.0. As the name suggests, the new flashlight is the successor to the older LR50R. Some of the upgrades are substantial, though there are also drawbacks. Output has increased from 12,000 to 18,000 lumens. At the same time, range has dropped from 1,040 to 925 yards, meaning the beam is now wider to illuminate more of the surrounding area.
The OLED display is also new and offers various details in black and white. Meanwhile, the battery has received a massive upgrade as runtimes increase from 58 hours to 195 hours. This is partly made possible by the 115Wh battery pack. The previous model had only 58Wh. As a result, the flashlight generally requires special approval from the airline for air travel, since its capacity exceeds 100Wh.
The LR50R V2.0 now uses a so-called "battery stick", a module that contains the battery. Fenix classifies it as a 46950 cylindrical cell, which apparently can be removed from the lamp head as the entire grip section. Formally, it is therefore a replaceable battery, though a proprietary one. It also functions as a power bank. The battery stick is charged via two separate USB-C ports. One supports up to 18W (Qualcomm Quick Charge and Power Delivery, 5, 9 and 12 volts), while the other provides up to 45W via USB Power Delivery (15 volts, 3 amps). Both can be used together for charging, a feature supported by only a few power banks. According to Fenix, the battery is then fully charged in three hours.
In addition to the white main light, which can be used in spot and flood modes, there is also a UV light and a red light. Battery runtimes and brightness levels can be found in the graphic attached below. Fenix is already selling the flashlight at its official US online store for around $370.
