Even for home users: This 5-axis CNC machine mills wood, aluminum, and titanium

We have previously reported on various CNC systems designed to bridge the gap between industrial applications and the maker community. The InfiMaker K1 occupies an intermediate position in this market: even during its crowdfunding campaign, the system starts at no less than $5,000, making it unlikely to appeal to the typical private user. Nevertheless, the system is also designed to be accessible to users with limited CNC experience who want to machine a wide variety of materials with high precision. Precision tolerances are rated at 0.01 mm, while the 1,500 W spindle reaches speeds of up to 20,000 RPM.
According to the manufacturer, this allows the machine to handle diverse materials—ranging from wood and brass to stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium alloys. Consequently, it enables the production of high-durability components that cannot easily be fabricated using a standard 3D printer. As a 5-axis CNC machine, it can execute complex and unconventional geometric shapes. The fabrication process is monitored via an integrated camera and AI algorithms designed to detect tool breakage and prevent unintended collisions. Furthermore, motion-compensation algorithms aim to deliver consistent, reproducible results over extended operations. With a maximum feed rate of 4,500 mm/min, simpler machining steps can be executed rapidly.
The build volume measures 120 × 120 × 120 mm, making it significantly smaller than that of a typical desktop 3D printer—a factor prospective backers should carefully consider. As with any crowdfunding project, supporters must also weigh the financial risk involved, as product delivery and final quality are never guaranteed.
