Sihoo Doro C300 Pro V2 Review Conclusion: Even More Comfortable, But Not Perfect

With the Doro C300 Pro V2, Sihoo has introduced several useful new features and improvements compared to the Doro C300 (Pro), which was already good in many respects. Ergonomics and adjustability, in particular, have been further enhanced. However, a few points of criticism remain.

Based on our hands-on impressions, the Doro C300 Pro V2 proves to be an almost all-around successful ergonomic office chair with solid build quality and plenty of adjustment options, even if we would have liked a bit more in one or two areas.

There’s nothing to complain about when it comes to pricing. Despite the improvements, the new Pro version has actually become more affordable and, depending on the configuration, is even below the MSRP of the Doro C300 - even though the latter’s price has dropped significantly in the meantime.

Pros

+ improved ergonomics
+ adjustable, adaptive lumbar support
+ versatile armrest adjustments
+ breathable mesh upholstery
+ optional footrest
+ also suitable for heavier individuals (up to approx. 136 kg)

Cons

- limited height adjustment of the headrest
- therefore not suitable for tall people
- resistance of the recline function cannot be adjusted manually
- armrests adjust quite smoothly

Price and Availability

The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the Sihoo Doro C300 Pro V2 is $499.99—which is less than the MSRP of the Doro C300. The ergonomic office chair is available directly from the manufacturer as well as on Amazon in black and white/gray.

The Doro C300 Pro V2 is also available with an optional extendable leg rest. In that case, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price increases to $539.99.

A few months ago, we tested the Sihoo Doro C300, an ergonomic office chair that—aside from a few criticisms—we already liked in our review. With the Doro C300 Pro V2, the manufacturer recently launched an improved version of the Pro variant.

But what exactly has the manufacturer improved, and how do the Doro C300 and the Doro C300 Pro V2 differ? We took a close look at the new model and tested it in everyday editorial use.

Scope of Delivery and Assembly: Best Done with Two People

The scope of delivery and assembly of the new Doro C300 Pro V2 are essentially the same as those of the Doro C300 we previously reviewed. Delivered in two large packages, it contains about 20 larger components, a whole set of screws with one spare screw of each type, two white cloth gloves for assembly, and an Allen wrench.

Assembly takes about 30 to 60 minutes at a leisurely pace. First, the base is assembled from six parts using ten screws, before the five casters and the gas spring are installed. Next, you move on to the two armrests, which are easily distinguishable by the embossed markings (“R” and “L”) and are initially assembled from two parts.

Next, assembly continues under the seat, to which the backrest is also screwed. During this process, the optional extendable leg rest is also attached to the underside of the seat. However, this was not included with our test sample. Overall, assembly went smoothly without any major issues, though four hands are sometimes advisable. It doesn’t require a great deal of technical skill, but some physical strength is needed at certain points.

Features and Quality: New Ergonomic Features

With the Doro C300 Pro V2, Sihoo has further developed and improved upon the Doro C300 Pro in several areas. This primarily concerns the ergonomic features and the chair’s adaptation to the body.

Among other things, one of our criticisms of the Doro C300 has been addressed. The lumbar support is now adjustable in three stages and can thus be customized to the shape of your back. In addition, the entire backrest can adapt vertically along a rail to your sitting position. If desired, this can also be locked in place, though only in the uppermost position.

The two armrests have also been further developed. They are still covered with gray PU padding, providing pleasant comfort for the elbows and forearms. What’s new is that they are now even more versatile in terms of adjustability. Not only can their rear ends now be folded up at any freely adjustable angle to support the elbows from below when leaning back, but the armrests can also be rotated 90 degrees so that they are parallel to the desk.

Also on board is the usual function for adjusting the seat height via a gas spring. The slightly curved seat, which is about 47 cm deep and—like the backrest—covered with breathable fabric, can be slid forward and backward by a few centimeters, which also enhances seating comfort. The Doro C300 does not have this feature, whereas the first generation of the Doro C300 Pro does.

Seating Comfort: Now Even More Comfortable

By and large, we already found the Sihoo Doro C300 quite comfortable to sit on. But there were also a few points of criticism. In our view, the biggest drawback was that the headrest has only very limited height adjustment. As a result, at just over 180 cm tall, the bottom edge of the headrest was already pressing into my shoulders, even though the manufacturer claims the chair is designed for people up to 190 cm tall.

The headrest is versatile, but unfortunately, its height adjustment is limited.

Unfortunately, Sihoo hasn’t eliminated this flaw. If the headrest is raised all the way up and tilted slightly backward, the problem no longer exists. However, this does slightly compromise comfort and the level of support for the head.

On the positive side, the lumbar support is now more adjustable, providing even better, individually tailored support for the back, and the armrests are even more versatile. These can be moved and adjusted to a wide variety of positions depending on use, for example, in the reclining function. Unfortunately, the resistance for this function still isn’t adjustable; instead, it’s supposed to adjust automatically.

This allows you to lean back to about 130 degrees and get comfortable. For me, weighing a good 100 kg, the resistance felt too soft, though, which made me feel a bit uneasy, especially the first few times. Over time, my confidence in the chair grew, but it didn’t reach the same level as with some other ergonomic office chairs. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to test the footrest this time. However, we had already liked it on the Doro C300. It’s ideal for a quick power nap at your desk or for leaning back and relaxing during a call.
