ESP32-C6 with 1.54-inch display: Versatile IoT board for makers with WiFi and optional battery

The range of compact development boards with integrated displays continues to expand. Waveshare, for instance, has introduced a new model—the ESP32-C6 1.54-inch LCD Display Development Board—which is designed for a wide range of applications. As with similar systems, however, the product is primarily aimed at makers rather than typical end users, and effective use will require at least some programming effort.
The board is based on an ESP32-C6 processor clocked at up to 160 MHz and supports wireless connectivity via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5. Programming is handled via USB Type-C. A permanent wired power connection is not necessary, provided the system is used with an optional battery.
Depending on the selected version, the 1.54-inch LCD may support touch input, allowing for more convenient operation. The board already integrates several sensors, including a gyroscope and an accelerometer, while built-in microphones enable audio-based interaction. A microSD card slot is also available, making it possible to store assets such as interface graphics externally. Additional sensors and actuators can be connected.
Waveshare lists the ESP32-C6 1.54-inch LCD Display Development Board at a starting price of $15. Alternative versions, including models with a round display, are also available.
