Honor is rumored to be working on a Magic 9 Pro Max featuring a dual 200 MP camera system, an ARRI imaging partnership, and a massive 8,000 mAh battery. The device could launch in October 2026, powered by the yet-unreleased Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

Honor is said to be working on a new high-end model for its upcoming Magic 9 series, called the Magic 9 Pro Max. Several leakers on Weibo claim that Honor wants this device to be the flagship of the Magic 9 lineup, possibly launching in October 2026, around the same time Apple usually releases new iPhones. However, none of this is official yet, so treat these details as rumors for now.

The rumored camera setup is what really stands out though. The rumors point to a dual 200 MP setup, with one being a primary sensor and the other a periscope telephoto lens. Two sensor options are floating around for the main camera: the OmniVision OV52B or the newer OVB0D, which sports a 1/1.12-inch size. The OVB0D brings LOFIC Gen 2 and DCG technology for improved dynamic range, where LOFIC captures overflow charge from overexposed pixels into a lateral capacitor instead of losing it, meaning you get better highlight and shadow detail in high-contrast scenes.

Honor has also reportedly teamed up with German cinema camera company ARRI to improve imaging, which could mean some serious improvements for video quality. The partnership was officially teased at MWC 2026. ARRI's involvement suggests better color science and video processing, though the details are still vague. Honor CEO Li Jian even hinted that the camera could rival Apple devices, which is a bold claim but one that remains to be seen once the phones actually release later this fall.

The phone is also rumored to use the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, which might be built on a 2nm TSMC process. The Pro version is expected to have a 6.9-inch flat LTPO OLED display with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor underneath, while the Pro Max could switch to a curved screen. The battery is said to be huge at 8,000 mAh and should support wireless charging.

One thing to keep in mind though is that the device is most likely still in testing, and Honor has not confirmed a single spec listed here. In fact, the "Pro Max" name itself may actually represent a shift away from the "Ultra" model that was rumored earlier, but until Honor makes an official announcement, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt. Keep an eye out closer to October for any concrete announcements.
