An indie dev has built a new Fujifilm app feature that lets users send film recipes directly to Fuji cameras. Beta testing is underway, with first-month access planned to be free.

After months of trial and error, a solo developer has built something many Fujifilm shooters have quietly wished for: a way to push custom film simulations directly from an app into Fuji cameras. Announced via a Reddit post on r/fujifilm, the tool lets users send recipes to compatible cameras with just a few taps - no more fiddling with dials and menus to manually enter values.

The feature will be built into the existing Fujistyle app, with beta testing already underway. According to the developer, more than 12 different Fujifilm cameras have been tested so far, including X-T5 (curr. $2,199 on Amazon), X-S20, and older models like the X-T20. Users participating in the thread confirmed that the app works across various XT, XS, and GFX series models. Comments are also suggesting that the app should allow voting on recipes, with the possibility of future support for commenting and community uploads.

Currently, the dev's plan is to make the feature completely free for the first month after launch. Pricing is still being figured out, but the developer is considering a one-time payment model - something that resonated well with the Reddit community at least. Many users suggested pricing tiers around $10 to $20 for lifetime access.

Safety concerns were also addressed at the same time. The developer confirmed that over 12 units have been tested without issue, though users are encouraged to wait and observe community feedback before diving in, especially since this feature modifies camera settings via third-party means.

While the feature isn’t publicly available on the App Store yet, interest is already pretty high, and understandably so. The developer is currently working full-time on the app, with no external funding or income, relying solely on community feedback and support to shape the project’s future.

A beta release is expected soon. For updates, you can follow the dev's official Instagram page (@fujistyle_app).
