The Vostro 15 5000 gets a 40 percent price cut with a free Western Digital HDD thrown in for good measure on some deals. The promotion includes systems with 8th gen Intel Core ix CPUs as well. The timing of the price cuts are in line with the recent announcements of a refresh across the Precision and Wyse Thin Client families set to launch towards the end of the month.

Dell is celebrating its recent reveal of the Precision 5530, 5530 2-in-1, 7530, and 7730 laptops with new deals on its existing lineup of Vostro, Precision, and Latitude models. Although likely just an attempt to clear stock and make room for the newer systems, it still makes for a good time to buy for users already on the fence.

The sale will last throughout the entire month until May 30, 8 AM EST or until supply lasts for the following systems:

  • Vostro Small Desktop (starting at $400)
  • Vostro Desktop (starting at $540)
  • OptiPlex 3050 Micro Desktop (starting at $610)
  • OptiPlex 3050 SFF Desktop (starting at $622 w/ SAVE35 coupon)
  • Precision Tower 3000 Series (starting at $680)
  • Latitude 3590 (starting at $705)
  • Vostro 15 5000 (starting at $790)
  • Latitude 5590 (starting at $1080)
  • Precision 7520 (starting at $1030)

The Latitude, Vostro, and Precision laptops above are of particular interest since the discounts are deeper than on the desktops. The entry-level Precision 7520, for example, now starts at $1030 down from $1580. For the Latitude and Vostro laptops, however, we recommend skipping the entry-level SKUs with 768p displays as these tend to be dimmer and with poorer grayscale and colors than the 1080p options. It's worth spending a bit more for the higher resolution 1080p SKUs as the benefits are more than just skin deep.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
