100% Dell XPS 13 9380 Review – Refined Perfection
Source: Hitech Century English Archive.org version
The refined and refreshed Dell XPS 13 for 2019 represents the pinnacle of Dell’s efforts to create the ultimate ultraportable and by all accounts, they’ve succeeded. There’s very little compromise here with the top-of-the-line model as you get one of the best 13-inch 4K touch displays that money can buy, complemented by blazing fast performance - all combined in a reassuringly sturdy, slim and beautifully hewn casing. You get what you pay for and what you get here is one of, if not the best ultrabook of the year.

Dell has made just about every possible improvement to the XPS 13 for 2019. The webcam is in its rightful position and no worse in quality considering the thin space they had to squeeze it in. The more evident improvement here, however, is the battery life, which sees a significant improvement. This all happened while everything else about the laptop has kept its storied, impressive quality, from the chassis form factor to the power profile of its internal components. This is the same laptop as last year, only slightly improved. When compared to the current best laptops of 2019, however, the XPS 13 does somewhat struggle to compete in terms of value. Simply put, there is certainly better hardware crammed in a laptop for similar price points, which means it’s not quite the ‘Best in Class’ laptop for 2019. However, it must be said that the Dell XPS 13 is still among the best laptops in the world, and that’s worth a lot.

The Dell XPS 13 was already a great laptop and Dell has made some welcome improvements to remain our favorite ultraportable overall. The addition of Intel Whiskey Lake cements the XPS 13's status as a mobile powerhouse. And when you're not crunching the numbers, that vivacious 4K display is perfect for watching video. We especially like the itty-bitty webcam, killing the nosecam forever.

Dell XPS 13 (2019) Review
Source: Yugatech English Archive.org version
All in all, the XPS 13 2019 is an excellent refresh of the previous version. It improved a couple of aspects, such as the webcam placement and a newer processor. The screen is visually pleasing with its thin bezels and vibrant colors, the audio quality is excellent, and working on it is a breeze. Our only qualms about It is that it has a slightly disappointing battery life — well, when it comes to the 4K model, it has a load of bloatware in it, and let’s face it, the XPS 13 has a pretty hefty price tag that begins at PHP 109,980. There may be other laptops out there that have similar aspects and perhaps come at a lower price but do consider the Dell XPS 13 (2019) when you’re on the lookout for a new daily laptop.

The new Dell XPS 13 is still one of the best 13-inch work laptops you can buy - but I struggle to find many reasons to not opt for its depreciated predecessor or waiting for an inevitable 9th-gen follow up over it.

90% Dell XPS 13 (2019) review: The webcam is finally on top
Source: Neowin English Archive.org version
The Dell XPS 13 is a great all-around clamshell laptop, with a beautiful design and a small footprint. My biggest complaints are that there's no IR camera - particularly that Dell gave us facial recognition and then took it away - and there's no USB Type-A. Most consumer laptops still keep at least one USB Type-A port, and this one does not.

The Dell XPS 13 is designed for actual user needs, thoughtfully addressing the practical things you worry about when using a laptop. It seems a little weird to gush about the placement of the webcam or the power brick or even glare on a screen, but those are real hassles and it feels nice to have a laptop quietly solve them.

80% Dell XPS 13 9380 review: The best little laptop fixes its biggest problem
Source: PC World English Archive.org version
Our first test is Maxon’s Cinebench R15. It’s a free benchmark based on Maxon’s older Cinema4D rendering engine. The test is multi-threaded and probably isn’t what most XPS 13 9380 users will run, but it’s still a fair representation of what you’re likely to see from the laptop and CPU in shorter multi-threaded workloads. Those occasional multi-threaded tasks in Excel or that rare multi-threaded Adobe Photoshop filter would likely see similar performance bumps.

Dell XPS 13 9380 review: The best little laptop fixes its biggest problem
Source: Good Gear Guide English Archive.org version
Most will dismiss the Dell XPS 13 9380 as a “meh” update. We’d tend to agree, as the CPU update offers a fairly small (albeit real) performance bump. The problem with that narrative is it ignores the position of the strength the XPS 13 comes from. The previous model reigned as most everyone’s top ultrathin laptop, including our own—until you got to the webcam placement. By taking that criticism away, the already-great Dell XPS 13 9380 is a better laptop.

Dell XPS 13 (9380) 2019 Review: So Close To Perfection
Source: Hot Hardware English Archive.org version
The new Dell XPS 13 (9380) is fast, quiet, and beautiful. It also commands a premium, as configured for our review of course. It retails for $2,449.99 when choosing the same hardware options as our review model, putting it out of reach for value-conscious buyers. However, you can knock that price down closer to $2,000 by slashing the storage in half (to 512GB) and going with Windows 10 Home instead of Pro. Pricing for the series starts at $899.99 for an FHD config (non-touch with 8th Gen Core i3 and less storage and RAM), so you can still bring a new model home on a tighter budget as well, just obviously with less bells and whistles.

Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

i7-8565U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.8 and 4.6 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

13.30":

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.

The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

Dell: Dell is a U.S. manufacturer (based in Texas) of computer hardware founded in 1984 and is one of the largest international manufacturers in terms of both market share and notebook models. Its product line includes desktops, notebooks, storage systems, monitors, servers, printers, consumer electronics and peripherals. Dell offers laptops that are suitable for various applications, such as business laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables and workstations. Dell's business laptops from the Latitude and Precision series are an option for professional users and businesses.

In 2023, Dell had an approximate 17% market share of global PC sales, ranking #3 after Lenovo and HP.

For gaming enthusiasts, Dell's Alienware brand is for gaming notebooks.

88.04%: This is an above-average rating. Nevertheless, it should not be forgotten that about one fifth of all tested models receive a better rating.
