Bloober Team’s latest sci-fi survival horror title, known for its incredible difficulty and resource scarcity, Cronos: The New Dawn, has achieved a solid launch with over 200,000 digital copies sold across all platforms by September 7, 2025, just three days after its release on September 5.
The game released simultaneously on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and even Linux and macOS. The game amassed more than 1,000,000 wishlists before it launched, indicating plenty of gamers are still on the fence when it comes to purchasing the title.
The Management Board of Bloober Team revealed this milestone in a brief notice:
“The Management Board of Bloober Team S.A., with its registered office in Krakow (hereinafter referred to as the “Issuer”), hereby announces that by September 8, 2025, sales of the Issuer’s game “Cronos: The New Dawn” (hereinafter referred to as the “Game”) exceeded 200,000 copies in the digital version on all platforms. At the same time, the Issuer announced that by September 8, 2025, the Game had received over 1,000,000 wishlist entries.”
These sales figures do not include physical sales. The PS5 physical edition of Cronos: The New Dawn has reportedly been delayed to September 19, 2025, with some retailers like Best Buy showing a release date of September 19. Many fans have expressed that they’ll wait for a physical copy to try out the game, given the game’s intriguing yet punishing survival horror aspect.
200,000 units in the opening days for a new IP from a Polish studio is respectable, given that Bloober Team self-published the game and made a modest marketing push compared to many AAA blockbusters. Still, it’s not a breakout smash that many hoped it would be, like the studio’s Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Furthermore, in a recent interview with Bankier.pl, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno talked about the game’s financial performance, stating that the development budget was significantly lower than the speculated $27.4 million expected by analysts and investors. He stated:
“I can assure you that the development budget was certainly not that high, and even though we are counting on very good results, the break-even point is not as high as analysts indicate.
We are completely confident about the company’s investment growth and earnings. All our analysts indicate that things will be fine, but we will, of course, report on sales levels when we reach a significant milestone.”
Bloober Team’s Babieno remains upbeat about the studio's future with the game expected to break even at 1 million sales, thanks to controlled costs, making Cronos: The New Dawn a low-risk project despite its ambitious scope.
However, Babieno confirmed that there are no immediate plans for a sequel to Cronos: The New Dawn, though the studio is open to expanding the IP through other forms of media like a film or TV adaptation, with interest already being expressed by major streaming services and Hollywood players.
