Cowboy is discounting the matte black versions of three of its connected e-bike models by €800 for Black Friday. The smartphone-connected e-bikes have built-in GPS with a bike location feature, removable batteries, and crash detection with automatic emergency contact location sharing.

With Black Friday in full swing, it's the perfect time to get into alternative transport. If you live in a city, especially a European city, an e-bike makes a lot of sense as personal transportation. Cowboy e-bikes knows this, and has discounted the slick matte black versions of its Classic, Cruiser, and Cruiser ST (step-through) commuter e-bikes by €800 for Black Friday via its European online store.

The discount represents a ~24% discount and brings the prices of Cowboy's matte black premium e-bikes down to €2490 — a number the brand specifically chose because it undercuts the average annual cost of car ownership in the EU. Cowboy claims that the average car owner pays €2560 annually towards insurance, tax, and fuel.

Cowboy's Classic, Cruiser, and Cruiser ST electric bikes all feature 250 W motors rated to 45 nm of torque, so they're certainly not going to be breaking any speed limits. However, that's more than enough power for daily commuting, especially for those wanting to burn a few calories on the way to work without exhausting energy reserves.

All three of the bikes on sale feature the same 250 W, 45 nm belt-driven hub motor paired to a removable battery that touts 40–80 km of range, depending on the level of pedal assist. The only differences between the three bikes come by way of ergonomics.

While the Classic features flat bars, a narrow seat, and sporty ergonomics, the Cruiser is more of a Dutch-style e-bike with a more comfortable seat and back-swept handlebars. The Cruiser ST takes the Cruiser's comfortable seating position one step further, turning it into a step-through e-bike. All three models come with built-in mudguards and hydraulic disc brakes.

Cowboy's e-bikes are also jam-packed with tech, including a built-in GPS with detailed tracking and theft prevention features. The integrated cockpit has a built-in smartphone mount, and the bike links to the rider's smartphone via the Cowboy E-Bikes app for iOS and Android. The app shows you speed, distance travelled, calories, burned, and remaining range. It also allows for OTA updates to the e-bike, and Cowboy's e-bikes can provide trip information directly to Strava and Apple Health.

While the tongue-in-cheek Black Friday deal pokes fun at the high costs of car ownership, Cowboy says it is using the juxtaposition to promote e-bikes as an alternative to car-dependence.
