The second-generation Apple iPhone SE proved a hit last year, despite not being as small as the original model. In fact, the 2020 version of the iPhone SE was so profitable for Apple, that the company is expected to announce a follow-up in April. No leaked renders or images of the device have appeared online so far, but Mac Otakara believes that the third-generation iPhone SE will debut alongside a new version of the AirPods Pro.
Nonetheless, svetapple has published concept renders of how an iPhone SE could look if Apple relied on the design of the iPhone 12 mini. The website has made some changes though, including retaining a single rear-facing camera module from the current iPhone SE and the switch to a punch-hole front-facing camera.
While an iPhone with a punch-hole display would be unusual, leaked iPad mini 6 renders suggest that Apple is considering utilising this display style for some devices. Svetapple visualised that the iPhone SE would retain Touch ID via a fingerprint scanner integrated within its power button, like the most recent iPad Air.
Svetapple has based its concept renders around the device having a 5.4-inch OLED screen, which would be a leap from the 4.7-inch LCD found in the current iPhone SE. Regardless of the design of the next iPhone SE, we imagine that Apple will equip it with the same chipset as the iPhone 12 series, just as it did with last year's iPhone SE and the iPhone 11 series. Hence, the next iPhone SE should feature an A14 Bionic, which would offer a decent performance uplift from last year's budget iPhone.
