Deal | Citizen's ISO-compliant Promaster Aqualand diver with DLC-coated bezel now discounted on Amazon

Amazon is selling the Citizen Promaster Aqualand Depth Meter BN2029-01E for $629. That amounts to a $211 discount off what Citizen itself charges, and Citizen is already running a promotion. Its own store has the watch at $840, reduced from a $1,050 list price.

If you compare this pricing against the listing's own history, the discount looks to be much more modest than that comparison implies. Keepa says that the 90-day average is $724.14 and the 180-day at $734.10, leaving $629 about 13% and 14% under those marks. The all-time low is far below, at $380.24 from Amazon and $313.50 from third-party new stock, but both go back to December 2017, within months of the watch's August 2017 launch. Prices since have largely stayed between $690 and $820. They did peak at $975 in January 2024. Keepa's history on the listing covers 4,466 days, more than twelve years.

Furthermore, Keepa also displays only 1.7 drops a month here, low by Amazon standards, and the current price has stayed the same for 23 days rather than showing up overnight. The "Limited Time Deal" badge is relatively newer than the price behind it.

Now, about the watch itself: it's an outlier in its own way. A big 53 mm two-tone steel case houses caliber J250, an Eco-Drive movement with an electronic depth sensor that reads up to 70 m, alongside a maximum depth memory, a rapid ascent alarm and a dive mode that starts itself on entering the water. The pusher at eight o'clock recalls maximum depth and the one at ten resets it. A power reserve indicator and date sit on the black dial beneath an anti-reflective mineral crystal, and the watch is ISO-compliant and rated to 200 m. The strap is polyurethane on a buckle, and lug width is an awkward 27 mm, which rules out most off-the-shelf replacements. Amazon is the seller/shipper; used stock is unavailable.
