Colorful is primarily known for its graphics cards, but the company also offers a handful of laptops. With the Rimbook L1, Colorful is now introducing one of its most affordable notebooks to date, which is marketed towards office users in particular. While the specifications are relatively basic, the Rimbook L1 is an interesting alternative to Chromebooks or budget-friendly Pentium-based laptops.
Colorful opted for an Intel Core i5-12450H, a mobile processor from 2022 that features four performance cores with boost clock speeds up to 4.4 GHz and four efficiency cores. It also comes with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB SSD. The 15.6-inch display has a 16:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 60Hz and a brightness of 300 nits. Colorful is apparently using a rather cost-effective panel, as the manufacturer provides no details on the screen's color space coverage.
The 50Wh battery supposedly lasts eight hours during office usage and can be charged via USB-C with up to 65 watts. Despite its relatively small battery and a cooling system with just one fan, the Rimbook L1 is not particularly thin or light, with a thickness of 0.7 inches and a weight of 3.92 lbs. That said, the cheap laptop has two USB-C ports, one of which supports data speeds of up to 5 Gbps, three USB-A ports, one HDMI 1.4 port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Price and availability
The Rimbook L1 is now available in the Philippines for $399, and Colorful notes that the notebook will soon be offered in more regions.
