This affordable DIY kit lets you build your own drone

Seeed Studio is offering the ESP-FLY DIY kit to help you build your own drone. Developed in collaboration with Max Imagination, the product is specifically aimed at hobbyists. It is also potentially useful for educational purposes, giving students insights into both hardware and software while letting them assemble a flight-ready quadcopter. Although you can find similarly priced camera drones from retailers like Amazon, those don’t offer the satisfaction of building a flying machine yourself.
The ESP-FLY kit contains all the parts required to build a drone, such as a XIAO ESP32-S3 module for flight control, a 2.4 GHz antenna for stable wireless transmission, and a motor controller. The kit also provides eight propellers and four motors with pre-attached wires to streamline installation. Though the drone doesn’t come with a display, two status LEDs indicate information such as the charge level of the included 250 mAh battery.
Flight stabilization is handled by a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU). The set also includes several 3D-printed parts, meaning it is theoretically possible to recreate the project with the right tools and skills. The ESP-FLY kit is available now for $59.99. Anyone interested should read the shipping terms and conditions before making a purchase.
