Beelink has hinted at the imminent launch of a new mini PC, the GTI Ultra, via a recent post on Twitter. While this upcoming model will not include support for internal discrete GPUs, it will however pack a PCIe Gen 4/5 slot for external GPU support.
Due to prioritizing compactness, as well as power and thermal constraints, mini PCs typically lack support for internal discrete GPUs and either rely solely on integrated GPUs, or offer external GPU support via Thunderbolt, or less commonly via OCuLink, like the newly launched Minisforum UM780 XTX (curr. $719 on Amazon), the latter of which offers significantly higher bandwidth (5 GB/s vs 8 GB/s). But Beelink is taking things up a notch with the GTi Ultra by including an 8-lane PCIe Gen 4/5 slot, offering a bandwidth of up to 4 GB/s per lane (32 GB/s total).
Other specifications of the GTi Ultra such as memory or storage remain unclear at this point, but Beelink's Twitter post notes that it will support Intel's 12th to 14th-gen processors, likely mobile variants typical of Beelink's mini PCs. Interestingly, there is no indication of an AMD variant in the works, which is a bit disappointing considering the superior iGPU performance that AMD APUs are known for, enabling better performance for those who do not wish to splurge on an external dock and power supply, both of which are critical for taking advantage of the provided PCIe slot.
Note that this was just a teaser of what to expect from the upcoming GTi Ultra, with no concrete information on the its pricing or availability. However, we will be sure to provide any updates as soon as more details become available.
