BMW iX1 eDrive20 electric SAV arrives as new cheaper model with 296 miles range
The BMW iX1 eDrive20 has been announced as a cheaper addition to the iX1 range, first released late last year. Later in 2023, three trim levels of the eDrive20 will be offered in Europe: Sport, xLine and M Sport. The FWD EV provides up to 296 miles (~476 km, WLTP) range from its 64.7 kWh battery, with a combined power consumption of 17.2 to 15.4 kWh/100 km.
You can recharge the iX1 eDrive20’s battery via three-phase AC with a maximum 22 kW input, fully charging in around 3.75 hours. However, a 130 kW fast charger can take the battery level from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes. The iX1 eDrive20 SAV has a 150 kW 204 hp motor delivering up to 247 Nm torque and accelerating from 0 to 62 mph (~100 kph) in 8.6 seconds. For comparison, the AWD BMW iX1 xDrive20 has a 273-mile (~440 km) range, 230 kW engine and can accelerate to 62 mph (~100 kph) in 5.6 seconds.
New features for the iX1 eDrive20 include BMW iDrive with Quick Select for faster navigation of the infotainment system, and BMW Operating System 9 comes as standard. You can now order the BMW iX1 eDrive20 in the UK, with pricing starting at £44,560 for the Sport trim; the car is expected to retail from €46,900 - €47,900 in the EU, with prices varying slightly in each country. For context, the older BMW iX1 retails for £52,390/€55,000. Production of the new EV will begin in Regensburg in November 2023, with deliveries to European countries such as the UK, Germany and the Netherlands starting shortly after.
