Bang & Olufsen celebrates its 100th anniversary by releasing five limited editions of the Beolab 90. The first version has already been unveiled, as the so-called Titan Edition features a 143-lb aluminum build that doesn’t sport the usual fabric covers.
This design makes all 18 speakers clearly visible and a laser engraving indicates that it is a limited edition. The speaker enclosure is handcrafted in Denmark, and its surface is sandblasted for a flawless finish. The technology inside the Titan Edition is identical to the regular Beolab 90, which is still impressive. Furthermore, Bang & Olufsen equips the speaker with one 330mm and three 254mm woofers, and each one is powered by a Class D amplifier with 1,000 watts.
This includes seven 114mm midrange drivers and seven 25mm tweeters that are paired with 300-watt amplifiers. As a result, a single Beolab 90 delivers an impressive total output of 8,200 watts. These speakers are further supposed to reproduce a frequency range from 12Hz to 43kHz and a volume of up to 126dB per pair. The sound can automatically adjust to the specific acoustics of the room.
Price and availability
The Bang & Olufsen Beolab 90 Titan Edition Hi-Fi speaker is now available at authorized retailers, although B&O has not yet confirmed an exact MSRP. The Titan Edition is the first of five limited versions of this flagship speaker, as the remaining four models are expected to be introduced in the coming months. For reference, the regular Beolab 90 are priced at €167,200 per pair. Further details on the Titan Edition can be found on B&O’s official website.
