If you happen to live in Australia and can afford the somewhat steeper phone plans on the nation’s largest telco Telstra, you have a pretty good reason to buy a Galaxy S10+ from the company. Customers who purchase a two-year data plan with phone repayments are being offered a free upgrade to the Galaxy S10 5G model when it launches in the second quarter of this year. The deal is in addition to the free Galaxy Buds offer that is available for pre-order customers.
To qualify for the deal, customers have to take up an eligible [read more expensive] 24-month mobile or lease plan and return their Galaxy S10+ in “good working order” within 21 days after the Galaxy S10 5G goes on sale. Telstra says customers don’t have to opt in, but can if they choose. Should they choose to opt in, there are no additional charges. According to Telstra, “We will offer the nearest Samsung 5G device equivalent (colors, capacity and model subject to change).”
This includes customers who choose the entry-level 128 GB model as well. Although the price has yet to be revealed for the Galaxy S10 5G, it features a larger 6.7-inch display the faster 5G connection and 256 GB of storage. If you happen to pick the 512 GB S10+, Telstra will even throw in a 256 GB microSD card to make up the storage deficit. Needless to say, it is a pretty incredible deal and one that we are sure customers will be snapping up – it’s certainly a good time to be a Samsung fan if you live in Australia.
As a side note, Telstra has already activated 5G towers in the major cities of Sydney and Melbourne and is targeting the rollout of 200 towers across the country before the end of 2019.
