Asus has upgraded its prolific ROG Zephyrus G16 gaming laptop with new Intel hardware. While it doesn’t specify the CPU model by name, it could be either the Core Ultra X9 388H or the Core Ultra 9 368H, as it is confirmed to feature 16 cores. That should give it some decent performance gains over the Core Ultra 9 285H found on last year’s models.
Not much has changed on the GPU side. The ROG Zephyrus G16 is still offered in three flavours: Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti. Asus hasn’t specified how much memory/storage the RTX 5090 variant will come with, but the RTX 5080 version ships with 64 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a 2 TB SSD, while the RTX 5070 Ti model is limited to 32 GB and 2 TB.
The ROG Zephyrus G16’s 16-inch WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) display keeps its core specs, such as a refresh rate of 240 Hz. However, Asus claims its peak HDR brightness can go as high as 1,000 nits. Additionally, the company has also introduced a new circular vent design for better heat dissipation. These are the two most significant upgrades announced for the new gaming laptop.
Other specs include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, one Thunderbolt 4.0 port, one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, an SD card reader and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. The laptop weighs 1.95 kilograms and comes with a 90 Wh battery. Asus hasn’t specified how much the new ROG Zephyrus G16 will cost, but if its predecessor and the recent memory crisis are anything to go by, it won’t be cheap.
