A previous leak predicted Asus would show off the new ZenBook S16 at Computex 2024 alongside a heap of other laptops. It is now official with an AMD Strix Point processor and some interesting specs. It is 11 mm thin and weighs just 1.5 kilograms thanks to what Asus calls a Ceraluminum chassis. The ZenBook S16 happens to be one of the many laptop that ditches the iconic Windows button for the new Copilot key.
Unfortunately, Asus hasn't mentioned the exact CPU powering the new ZenBook S16. Given AMD has unveiled just two models, it is either the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 or Ryzen AI 9 365. You can pair it with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5x (soldered) RAM and a 2 TB NVMe SSD. Lastly, a 78 Wh battery powers the laptop. The laptop doesn't include a dedicated charging pin, effectively forcing users to use one of the two USB 4.0 ports.
Other I/O on the Asus ZenBook S16 includes a 3.5 mm audio jack, HDMI port, SD card reader and a 20 Gbps USB Type-A port. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth. Its trackpad is 40% larger than previous models and supports what Asus calls "Smart Gestures". The ZenBook S16 comes with six speakers tuned by Harman Kardon, complete with Dolby Atmos support.
Lastly, the Asus ZenBook S16 comes with a 16-inch 3K touch-enabled OLED screen clocked at 120 Hz.It has a 90% screen-to-body ratio and is offered in two colourways: Scandinavian White and Zumaia Gray. Other features include a Windows Hello-compatible 1080p webcam, Windows Passkeys support and a Microsoft Pluton security chip. The Asus ZenBook S16 starts at $1,399 and will be available for purchase in the coming weeks.
