Asus ROG USB-C dongle with 10G Ethernet gets wider availability

Asus quietly launched the USB-C10G in China and some of the other markets, and now, the USB dongle with the 10GbE port is available to purchase in the US. Of course, this isn’t an official launch as the company isn’t offering the accessory directly.
Instead, the USB to Ethernet adapter is available on Amazon US as a UK import. The good part is that the orders are being fulfilled by Amazon itself, and the price appears to be better than that in China and the UK.
To fill you in, in China, the ROG USB-C10G launched with a price tag of CNY 799, about $119, while in the UK, it retails for £79.99, around $109.11. On Amazon US, on the other hand, the dongle is going for $98.87.
For those who missed our previous coverage, it’s essentially an adapter with a size similar to a USB flash drive, and on one end, it sports a USB-C port, while the other has a 10G Ethernet port. The accessory comes with a short Type-C cable, which features a USB-C to USB-A adapter, making it compatible with relatively old laptops that don’t have any Type-C ports.
As for the interface, it relies on USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, which has a theoretical transfer rate of 20Gbps. That means the 10GbE port should be capable of offering its full potential on devices that can take advantage of it.
Asus further highlights that the adapter can be used as an additional WAN port on compatible routers. Check out the spec sheet attached below to learn more about the ROG USB-C10G.
