The New Star of the Gaming Heavens. Asus has re-worked its 17 inch giant so as to be able to compete in 2012. The new model has a fresh look and the latest hardware. Thanks to the Ivy Bridge CPU and GeForce 600 graphics card, the G75 can leave its predecessor behind in the dust. Is the fan still as quiet as it used to be in 3D use?

The ASUS G75V is priced at a hefty Rs. 139,999, which is a lot of money for a notebook. While there’s no doubting its performance, this is not something we could easily recommend to everyone. It’s a very heavy laptop, so it’s not something you could carry to work or college everyday. At the same time, the price of the G75V is enough for you to be able to put together a very impressive gaming rig, one that could effortlessly beat the G75V’s performance. The G75V is then for very niche customers, the ones who frequent tournaments and LAN parties and don't want to carry their bulky gaming rigs with them.

Besides the ROG notebook as such, G75VW gives you the latest Intel CPU with excellent performance, the (allegedly) most recent generation of NVIDIA GPU with 3D capabilities, a large SSD, enough RAM to be safe for the lifetime of this notebook, and a large charger that can be actively used in self-defence. All features of the ultimate gaming machine stand ticked, and the excellent performance it provides makes anything less than a Approved award an understatement.

The ASUS G75 replaces the G74 as my go-to recommendation among pre-built gaming laptops. Other competitors can match ASUS on performance, but there’s more to this system than that. This is a winning combination of design, performance and price that will sure to appeal to gamers that don’t have over two grand to spend.

In the end, the Asus G75 is for sure an impressive laptop, especially the G75VW top-config I got to test here. When compared to last year’s G74, it’s significantly faster, while still running cool and quiet. Asus also made a couple of changes, making the whole thing slimmer, adding a backlit keyboard, a 2.1 sound system and a Thunderbolt port. However, I do feel that some aspects could still be improved and I’m looking especially at that keyboard.

The Asus G75VW-DS71 is nicely priced for a midrange gaming laptop, and it works as a multimedia behemoth. But it starts to wheeze when taxed with high resolution and detail settings. Think of it as a part-time gaming rig.

The Asus G75VW-DS71 pulls off a rare feat: It’s a massive gaming laptop without the massive price. For a reasonable $1,799, this 17.3-inch rig delivers one of Intel’s new third-generation (a.k.a. Ivy Bridge) processors. Big and powerful, quiet and affordable, the Asus G75VW-DS71 is a gaming laptop with a value proposition worthy of your attention.

The Asus G75VW-DS71 is a 17-inch desktop replacement notebook with a strong focus on gaming performance. Asus built it to have speed, especially the graphics performance and with the inclusion of a Thunderbolt port. While having good overall performance, it does fall a little short of what we expected.

ASUS touts the $1,799 G75VW as the ultimate fighting machine, and while that declaration may be more hyperbole than fact, the notebook is no slouch when it comes to gaming. The G75VW delivers where it really counts -- playing the latest games at silky smooth frame rates -- and it looks great doing it. Considering that a similarly configured Alienware M17x costs about $200 more, the G75VW is a good choice for anyone looking to buy a 17-inch gaming notebook.

Aside from the few issues with the speakers, average battery life and slow hard drive speeds, I am glad to say the G75VW is a welcome revival to the most popular gaming notebook series on the market. Once again, ASUS' Republic of Gamers shows us its years of experience by delivering a notebook with great style, clever design and excellent build quality. This truly is a new standard in portable gaming hardware technology.

I have no reservations recommending the ASUS G75VW to enthusiast gamers. It excels in nearly every area as have previous-generation ASUS G-series gaming notebooks. I like the design tweaks of this iteration including the much-improved keyboard and touchpad and anti-glare screen coating.

The Asus G75VW is a budget-priced gaming laptop, and in this case you kind of get what you pay for. Don't get me wrong: The G75VW can play most games at an acceptable level, and it's a fairly attractive machine to boot. Plus, it has a great screen with excellent viewing angles. That said, it's lacking in general performance, and it's nothing like some of the higher-end gaming laptops we've seen, such as the Origin EON17-S. On the other hand, though the EON17-S has twice the WorldBench 7 score of the G75VW, it also costs more than twice as much. If you're looking for a somewhat budget-friendly gaming laptop, the G75VW is quite capable. But you will need to use headphones.

When it comes to gaming laptops, most people think of Alienware and Origin as the prime providers of high-end, high-performance, high-cost PC hardware. If you want to buy a “budget” gaming laptop, the Asus G75VW-AS71 offers plenty of horsepower and features in its heavy 17-inch body. Just don’t expect anything svelte -- or good battery life.

ASUS has shrunk their 17-inch gaming laptop down with the latest G75VW version. They did this while keeping the performance still very high and prices very reasonable. The quad core Ivy Bridge processor, NVIDIA Kepler graphics and the excellent matte finish 17.3-inch display all add up to a superb gaming experience. Not all laptops are created equal. Some are small, portable little things while others are monstrous, turbo-charged beasts. The G75VW is the latter. The Asus G75VW is far from pretty and it certainly isn't cheap, but it redeems itself by providing a massive serving of power for both general computing and gaming. The bold, Full HD screen sadly lacks the touch capabilities for Windows 8 though.

As a decently priced mid-range gaming laptop, the Asus G75VW-DH72 offers great performance at an affordable price, letting you enjoy top of the line games (albeit with middle of the road graphics performance) for far less than a tricked out high-end system. Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a major Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer based in Taipei, founded in 1989. Under the Asus brand name, the company manufactures a wide range of products, including laptops, desktops, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, smartphones and networking equipment, complete systems and PC components for end users.
Under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand name, ASUS manufactures gaming laptops known by gamers for their powerful specifications, dedicated graphics cards, high refresh rate displays and advanced cooling systems.
Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market.
Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
