Reviews for the Asus G73SW-BST6
Source: PC Mag
Archive.org versionThe Asus G73SW-BST6 has the graphics chops to handle the latest action games and the CPU horsepower to breeze through just about anything that you throw at it. Its battery life is relatively short, but chances are you won't be hauling this behemoth too far from an outlet anyway. A 1,920–by-1,080 display would be a huge improvement, as would the addition of a Blu-ray drive. The Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch (Thunderbolt) offers a more well-rounded feature set and better all-around performance, but it costs $900 more than the Asus G73SW-BST6.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M:
High-end DirectX 11 graphics card based on the GF106 chip using GDDR5 graphics memory (up to 1.5 GB).
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
2630QM: Fast Quad-core processor based on the Sandy Bridge architecture with an integrated graphics card and dual-channel DDR3 memory controller. » Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
