Apple iPad Pro with OLED display and new design: Bloomberg reveals launch date details
After the launch of the successor to the iPad Pro, originally planned for the end of March or beginning of April, was postponed due to delays in the production of the OLED display and software programming, the oft well-informed Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman has finally provided more concrete details about the planned launch. Accordingly, the long-awaited tablet will be officially presented in the week from May 6th to May 12th.
One of the reasons why Mark Gurman expects a launch this week is that new marketing material will be sent to Apple Stores around the world on these same days, as is usually the case with the launch of new products. At the beginning of May, the Apple iPad Pro will finally receive another update; for the first time since 2018, this will even include a fresh design. The successor tablet is said to be the first tablet in the world to be equipped with a stacked OLED display, which should theoretically reach twice the brightness and four times the lifespan of a traditional OLED screen thanks to two precisely aligned OLED layers.
The catch: The new display is expensive, so the next generation iPad Pro will be correspondingly more expensive. According to rumors, Apple is also planning a third-generation Apple Pencil that supports new gestures, as well as a Magic Keyboard that will more closely resemble the look of a MacBook. Together with the iPad Pro, Apple is also set to unveil the next generation iPad Air, which, in addition to a newer processor, will also have a variant with a 12.9-inch display, but will retain the well-known design. The 11th generation iPad and the next iPad mini, on the other hand, are not expected until the end of the year at the earliest, each with only minimal upgrades.
