Apple TV 4K: Code leak offers new clues days ahead of launch

Rumors suggest that Apple is planning two launch events in October. The first, reportedly taking place on October 13, is expected to bring not only Apple's long-awaited smart home hub, but also a new HomePod mini and the next-generation Apple TV 4K. MacRumors has now found hints of the brand-new set-top box in the code of the latest beta version of tvOS 27.2.

The code suggests that a menu item called "Improve ‌Siri‌ & ‌Apple Intelligence‌" will be added to the system settings. According to the accompanying description, Apple stores text and audio collected during users' interactions with Siri, the dictation feature and the translation feature if this setting is enabled. Since Apple has not yet announced any Siri AI features for tvOS 27, it is unlikely that these features will be added to older Apple TV models via a software update.

The code also suggests that four Apple HomePods will be able to connect wirelessly to an Apple TV in the future to provide surround sound. The HomePods' speakers can be used to relay Siri requests to an Apple TV, allowing responses to be displayed visually on the connected screen. According to rumors, the next-generation Apple TV will use either an Apple A19 with 8 GB of RAM, or an Apple A19 Pro with 12 GB of RAM, as also used in the iPhone 17 Pro ($998 on Amazon).
