More hints about the upcoming MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 have emerged online. According to supply chain reports, Apple's suppliers have already started the mini-LED based laptops ahead of an expected Q3 2021 release.

While some leakers stated that Apple would announce its next-generation MacBook Pros at WWDC21, Apple seemingly hinted that it has developed an 'M1X MacBook Pro'. Additionally, one leaker claims to have received information about a proposed release date, which you can read here.

Incidentally, DigiTimes has provided more clues about the state of future MacBook Pro production. According to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release a MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 first, with a revised MacBook Pro 13 to follow at some stage. In view of that, DigiTimes asserts that Apple's suppliers have started trialling the production of next-generation MacBook Pros with mini-LED displays.

Typically, suppliers would do this as a step before mass production, provided that they detect no problems during their trial run. Trialling production indicates that Apple is already far down the track towards announcing its next MacBook Pros, presumably within the next few months. Based on previous leaks, Apple's next MacBook Pros will feature a new design, revamped I/O and a more powerful in-house 'M1X' SoC. You can read more about the M1X here.
